I love this version. It actually put tears in my eyes. So sad how the computer is trying to communicate with her. Their connection. It totally works for me. I've always felt this song was way ahead of it's time. The general public didn't really start using computers on a more personable manner until maybe four to five years later. I also love the extended ending.

I can't believe 41 people dislike this. It was always my favourite track from The Sensual World, and now, kate has taken it to another dimension. To turn a 22 year old album track into a relevant single that shits over everything else that has been released so far in 2011 is sheer genius. Director's Cut is going to be one hell of an album. Roll on May 16th...

Have any of those people complaining that the song sounds "too weird" "robotic" or "strange" or "too experimental" ever heard any Kate Bush music beyond Wuthering Heights? People are acting like she has never released a song with computer effects, weird vocals, ambient noises or offbeat timings before

I always liked this one since it resonates with me and as others have said, amazing that she predicted back in '89 what is happening to us these days. Listening to "DU" '11 on KZbin doesn't do it justice. A week with a new working of an old Kate Bush song that, in fact, makes it seem like a new Kate Bush song, is a happy week. "DU" '11 is addicting me to my computer, and I didn't think I could become more chained to it than I already am. But it's wonderful.

I miss the trio but I love it. Kate really took a chance with this and it works. Honestly, the first time you ever heard The Dreaming, did you love it right away? For me, at least, it took a few listens for me to understand and appreciate it. Now it's my favorite album of all time. It's KATE BUSH, guys, she's not going to live up to your expectations. She's going to create something entirely new and different and she will surpass them.

I just love this woman. This is such an odd choice for a single, just like Breathing, Sat in Your Lap or The Dreaming were before it. And I love her for it. I love it that she doesn't compromise, doesn't care to be mainstream or follow the rules. She does what feels right for her. And many times this means releasing daring, uneasy, sophisticated songs, with no commercial appeal, as her singles. She knows their worth. And I'm there with her. This song, like the others I've mentioned, is AMAZING.

Love it. The first listen was off-putting, and I was so intent on noticing the differences between it and the original, that I was nit-picking and finding disappointment because it wasn't living up to what I had pre-conceived. But listening to it more, it's getting in to my brain, and I'm living it. It IS like a child playing with a new toy, but that's the whole point!: Being enthralled by something artificial, false, cheap commodity, and omnipresent. I'll be listening to it all day, and m

Kate Bush has been, and always will be, and innovative musician and performer. People didn't "get" her in her early days and some people won't "get" her now. That really doesn't matter because Kate makes music the way she believes music should be made. As one of the first, if not the first, person to approach music as a true "multi-media" process, I am not surprised by her latest approach to music. You may not like it but that doesn't make it bad. It makes it music by Kate Bush.
@never4everuk13 жыл бұрын
Didn't have enough room to put the rest of my comment. Kate doesn't ask us to be fans or court publicity so I am grateful for this little gift. Also does anyone else think a part of the song reminds them of watching you without me from HOL.

I absolutely love this version. It's definitely a separate song from the original. I think this shows a mournful and scary quality in the new computer voice. it's almost as if it's been programmed to sound as though it speaks with emotion. The musical bit at the end feels so expressive of being lost in not being able to make a human connection Brilliant as always. This woman is genius!

I love when artists change up some of their songs. The whole intent about this album is having A NEW TAKE on the old material. I'm confused why so many people keep talking about how she is "trying to improve" her songs. This has nothing to do with improving the originals. Kate herself said she considers this a new album. I myself consider this album as "what it would be like for Kate to perform live" in 2011. LOVE the harmonica at the end! very Southern, smoky, and dark.

I really don't understand why people are so negative about this track, I've listened to it about 20 times now and I think it's right up there with her finest work such as Aerial or the Dreaming. I really love TRS and Sensual World as they were but they weren't as risky in sonic terms as her earlier albums. I think she is back playing the edge here in away we haven't had since Hounds of Love. Very thrilling for all her fans!
@MikesClaws13 жыл бұрын
I love this version. I think this song got another message than the original. Because this time it's her SON who sings: "Hello, I know that you've been feeling tired. I bring you love and deeper understanding. Hello, I know that you're unhappy. I bring you love and deeper understanding." So maybe the new message is: There IS much love to give and receive, but you have to seek in the right places. (Like Family, but not computers) Her son proves this point of view.

I wish I had been a musical genius, then I could've sat back for 20 or 30 years getting stoned, occasionally releasing poorly rehashed versions of my culture-altering masterpieces and still have my 'loyal fans' make all kinds of excuses as to why we should all be so grateful for any form of 'new work' from this 'untouchable' genius. Nice work if you can get it.

All the comments make me laugh a lot, and make me think that Kate perfectly achieved what she wanted. She doesn't care AT ALL of what people think of her and her job. She delivers what she thinks is an actual version of her song, and knowing how perfectionnist she is, i have no doubt that this is EXACTLY what she wanted us to hear.

Just got in and heard this for the first time. Have to say I (quite) like it up to 2:30 as I'm having a bit of a job getting used to the autotune vocal, but I LOVE it from 2:31to 6:32 where the harmonica playing "duetting" with the "Bring me ... little black box... etc " vocal is absolutely brilliant! Bodes really well for the album.

yes i sorry what was I thinking? Everything Kate will ever do and release is automatically amazing, utterly moving and profound. It s also a phenomenally clever reaction to our brand new 'computer age' that we've only just started living in. We don't even need to hear it as it's already amazing and when she next releases something in 20 years - an ahead of it's time bootleg of Do the Bartman and Wuthering heights (feat Akon) we will all rejoice in being blessed with Kate's presence again!

this was really weird the first time... but it gets better when listened again. How can someone says that her voice is weakening ? it is a choice here. And listen to the part she added, her voice didn't weaken at all. It is amazing to see how she treats her own material. We see her old songs as treasures too sacred to be modified, she doesn't, and she is right. I love her for more than 30 years now, and i will go on.
