No doubt, one of Chopin's most under-appreciated misunderstood works. It shows, upon careful analysis, the mark a true craftsman of music at the peak of his powers. The genius overflows in ways that are not easily discernible to the casual listener. This work (along with the Ballades, the Fantasy in F-minor, the Barcarolle, and of course, the Mazurkas) places Chopin in the ranks of the greatest composers. And Ms. Liu plays it quite beautifully.

I am not the only one who feels she should have won the gold instead of the bronze medal, and probably would have were it not for the low score awarded by (jealous?) @BurningSky93 жыл бұрын
I can hardly imagine Martha thinking 'too dreamy' as she herself has this quality in her playing often times. Liu's polonaise was a miracle and I would like to think Martha was touched by it. Probably the score was more a consequence of Kate's final concert, in which, unfortunately, she did not give her best...

Coughing at these competitions must be considered a crime. Do you see anyone coming to a marathon and try to tackle the runners? It affects everyone from the pianists to the jury members because it creates a negative emotion, disrupts the musicians' concentration and generally damages the whole atmosphere. Chopin Competition please at least warn people! I was blissfully swimming in dreams when the guy at 11:21 just annoyed me to the point of writing an angry comment under this magnificent performance.
