Kate Middleton says she edited Mother’s Day royal photo

It was supposed to counter the many conspiracy theories about the health of the Princess of Wales, but it did the opposite.

The photo of Kate Middleton and her three children, sent out yesterday, was the first to be issued since her abdominal surgery - but it was withdrawn by international picture agencies hours later because it had been "manipulated", in their words.
Kate has apologised, admitting in a statement: "I do occasionally experiment with editing."

🙄how can so many people miss the main point? No, no one cares that she simply wanted a picture to look nicey-wicey. We care because the nature of the 'editing' (A.I image generation/composition) suggests that the gathering might not have even happened or happened like that. And that's on top of Catherine's recent absence from public life officially explained only by "abdominal surgery" which could mean lots of things.

This kind of editing is extremely common in every single industry and medium, and is featured on every possible social platform without any issue. Even the new iphones do it automatically now by taking burst shots (regardless of setting) and then an AI program frankensteins the images together for the best image. If anything what's suspicious about this story is that the outlets involved "killed" the image for being edited when those same outlets all routinely publish edited photos of celebrities and politicians. The image in question wasn't even an "official" portrait, it was self published probably taken on a phone for her social media. It was not part of a press release or a news worthy event, just a family shot for mother's day. If anything the outlets involved in spreading the "kill image" notices manufactured this entire scandal just to create a story in order to appeal to armchair internet conspiracists. Which is super unethical to say the least.

in a world of deep fakes and AI images, papers have to be super on the ball about catching photos that are potentially not Kosher. So it was inevitable that a manipulated pic like this was going to get spotted and pulled from circulation. Which means it would be totally mad for a top member of the royal family to photoshop a pic and release it without telling anyone. And whenever a pic is photoshopped to this extent, the inevitable question is what has been removed and why. Add to that she hasn't been seen in public for 3 months, and this is inevitable. There's lots of weirdness around this, both why she hasn't been able to show her face since before Christmas and why the first new image of her seen in 3 months is so obviously falsified. She's one death of an elderly man with cancer away from being the queen of England. Either that means something and so the public should be interested in her as a person, her wellbeing and her status, or it means nothing and the monarchy is pointless and should be abolished. For me it's the latter. So I'm more amused by this than anything. But the establishment view is the monarchy is important, and it's the job of the media to report on things that are considered important

The photo is a fake. The kids were photographed on approx 10 Dec on a visit to a baby bank, and the colours were altered via computer tech. The image of Kate is from the main cover of Vogue 10 years ago. I'm very concerned for Kate because of this.

What a fuss about nothing. According to the metadata, the photo was taken the week before Mother's Day in Windsor. Saturday and Sunday uploaded to an Appel Mac, also in Windsor, slightly edited. Then uploaded to her own private page on Sunday. A greeting from a mother to all others for Mother's Day. Every year a photo like this is published, so it shouldn't be proof that she wasn't buried under the terrace by William, for goodness sake. It's a lovely photo and has warmed the heart of this old lady in Germany. The media are on the warpath against a sick, loving wife and mother who is also the princess of the country and the future queen consort. It really is a disgrace. I wish Princess Catherine health, strength and happiness with all my heart.
