Kate Middleton talks to children about feelings, friendship and kindness | Shaping Us Campaign: Kate Middleton marked the start of her landmark project by visiting Leeds, famed for its Child Friendly Leeds initiative, and toured its Kirkgate Market to meet stall holders and the public to hear their views about her project. Canvassing parents out shopping she said "they feel this is an issue for them" and praised Leeds for its "impressive" initiative having children and young people at the "heart of the city".

My daughter who is 11yr quoted HRH Princess Catherine in her debate this week as it tied it with the importance of reward, happiness with kids at school. She tells me…’mummy when I grow up I wanna be a psychologist and work for HRH Catherine’s organization so I too can make a difference with kids 😭’ We are not British or live there, but HRH Catherine has such and impact on my lil royalist at home. The British people are very lucky to have such an amazing, intelligent and beautiful example for little girls and has clearly made an impact on my little one and got her dreaming and reaching for the stars ♥️

Her interactions with the children remind me of our (the US's) Mister Rodgers. Very kind and gentle. No children's TV show had talked to children directly about their feelings and with empathy before Mister Rodgers. I'm glad Princess Catherine is continuing in this vein, she certainly has the gift.

Children can sense when someone is genuine, unlike a lot of adults who can easily be fooled by the likes of markle. Catherine, the real princess is lovely in every way and kids can see that. Markle footage where she interacts with kids is cringe. She doesnt like kids at all.

What was lovely is Princess Catherine knew that the little girl was shy and rather than be pushy and try and force her talk Catherine let her just listen and that seemed like enough. Children will only go further into their shells if you are loud and try to force them to get involved.

This was beautiful to watch. She is a natural in communicating with children. YES YES YES to talking to children about their feelings. So so important. I only learned about that soon after I gave birth to my now 4 year old. He now tells me all about his feelings and we always encourage him to tell us what he’s feeling in the moment so he learns all feelings are natural & that we care about how he’s feeling. I used to roll my eyes before I had kids when i would hear about parents doing that, but I didn’t realize how important it is.
