This week Kate is testing out the Peugeot e2008 on the long road to replace our Tesla Model 3. It's a real looker, great charging speeds and very spacious, but it doesn't come cheap. Follow us to find out how she gets on.

Thanks for the excellent review, Kate. And thank-you, Florence, for your valuable comments! A lion on the steering wheel is really important. 🙂 So, the Peugeot also has a chocolate teapot glovebox. That's the one annoyance about our Zoe. The Peugeot makes up for some of the lack of covered storage space with that armrest, but it looks as though there's still nowhere in the cabin which is big enough for the documents folder and First Aid kit. Under a seat, maybe?

As a destress tonic, I break up never ending emails and teams meeting, with some mundane washing-up and 20mins of KZbin. Florence was exactly what the doctor ordered today. Now we all want a Lion on our steering-wheels😃

Kate the reason the glovebox is small, is because the fuse box location, on the right hand drive cars is where glovebox is.

Took a two hour test drive in an e2008 with a view to leasing the other week. Very smooth, very comfortable, decent performance and reasonable regen for someone who will be coming out of a Diesel Auto 3008. The one I tested did have the keyless entry, opening panoramic roof and the adaptive cruise control with active lane keeping. Adaptive cruise worked well and the active lane keeping was reasonably unobtrusive on the motorway and was easy to switch on and off.

Another great review, detailed, honest and Florence is a fantastic addition to your presenting team! I have had an e208 for a year and love it, the look and the use. The Satnav in the dash works well and the birdseye reverse cam. Not noticed any efficiency gain in Eco mode, it is just an aid to a gentler driving style. I can hear Peugeot saying, it is a lot cheaper than a Model 3!

What’s your motorway range like ?
@bjephcott13 жыл бұрын
@@The-Salty-Bager It depends on speed and temperature - in summer I can drive from Shropshire to north London (M54-M6-M1) in one go, if I keep the speed at 65. 165 miles and I have about 10% left at the end. In winter it was much harder, you need a charge stop, the range does fall by 25% or more. But now I use the cellent Gridserve chargers at the new Moto services at Jct 1 M6, which charge really quickly, a short comfort break and you are at 90% again.

The reason for the ridiculously small glove-box (why do we still call it that?) is that Peugeot, Citroen and Renault couldn't be bothered to move one of the fuse boxes over to the driver's side. As a result, one of the fuse boards is on the left side of the vehicle and would normally be behind the steering column, i.e. out of the driver's way. Instead, we in the UK and Ireland have to put up with that silly little waste of space on the left.

Peugeot have upped their game in recent years. The glove box is a let down and it’s only that they can’t be bothered to change the fuse layout on RHD cars. I think it’ll do well but the price point is too high at moment. Florence should have her own channel

They leave the fuse box in situ when converting to RHD hence the ridiculous glove box .... The thing that has ruled so many EV’s out for me when I was looking, after driving boats where common sense has a transmission lever that goes forwards for “forwards” and backwards for “backwards” so many car makers reverse this ! I will never understand that logic at all....🤔

Nice review. Not my type of car but the styling is pretty good for this class of car. I really like the 3D effect display but suspect it will look dated in four or five years time. I loved the E208 when I tested it so imagine this would be OK too. I have decided I am never going to own anything than a convertible again so this won't be for me and the main reason my Zoe was sold (ideally with a glass roof like my SLK - very rare now though). The usual thing about EVs being massively expensive still applies but all these new EVs mean good choice when they are a few years old and cheaper.

You might want to reconsider the seating position for your child - especially when doing videos for others to watch. Have a look inside the door or on the sun visor for the recommendation in relation to children sitting in the front seat. Passenger airbags can be lethal for children and it may only be a trivial accident that initiates the airbag. The back seat is generally recommended as the safest option for children under a certain age/height.

the reason the glove compartments are so small is because of the steering wheel being on the "wrong" side in the UK. They now have to put a glove compartment in the space already occupied by a fuse box. I know Brits still seem to think they are right and the rest of the world is wrong, but if that was the case they would have developed the car to fit the UK standard, while the rest of the world would have needed to compromise for their conflicting way of thinking.
