I checked out the reviews on this car because I see a neighbor of mine has just purchased one, they look very good in the flesh. My comment on your review is “doctors differ in patients die!! Robert Lewellen seems to have a different viewpoint to your viewpoint” anyway it was great getting your viewpoint and Roberts. One of you is correct. Personally, I believe any EV design that is also available in petrol, diesel or hybrid is a bad idea/design. In other words, the manufacturer is still sitting on the fence and not fully committed to electric vehicles just yet.

I try and see the positive in most things but you are correct, a dedicated EV platform is definitely better.

High waterline... was worried you might get stranded if it rained! Despite not pushing the envelope in terms of range or power, it's great to see so many capable all-electric options coming from trusted automakers in Europe. We only really have the Bolt EV and Nissan Leaf widely available here in the States, with the Kona Electric and Niro EV only available in limited areas for the moment. Appreciate your detailed review, excellent and beautifully shot as always, and look forward to maybe renting one of these the next time we're able cross the pond. (Oh, and with Peugeot EVs, I'm sold on the saber tooth front lights alone!)

Great review thanks. I test drove one this morning. Gorgeous car, and I love the interior. Feels sporty. I will probably get one. The only thing stopping me is the fear of change to an e-car!!!

I didn't know there was an SUV style Peugeot when I purchased my EV Vauxhall Mokka. But I'm now very eager to trade my Mokka for one of these! Looks a proper nice car! 👌

Thanks for the comprehensive review. We ordered the e-2008 (GT-line) here in Germany with the same colour as your test vehicle. Delivery (from a month ago) is supposed to be Jan 2021 or maybe even Christmas. We looked at the e-208, Renault Zoe and Opel e-Corsa (same platform as the 208) but overall design won the day along with the additional space.

Oh by the way, in Germany you can order your number plate at no extra cost and we managed to bag E 2008 !

Really enjoyed this review and I have watched practically every one on the e-2008 as mines due to be delivered any day now. Might be an idea to include your height for head room, leg room etc. I’d agree with your comment, it’s 2 ‘O’ 8!

EV Review Ireland It was a tough decision between Vertigo blue and white but ended up going for white as like the contrasting black touches. I must say elixir red looks lovely also. Thanks for the height info!

Good review, interesting they are starting to deliver these as we were told earlier in the year it would be late 2020 early 2021. Anyway, we went with the e208. So far so good 😎

Hi Derek! I'm looking into my EV options so this is really useful. The detail is perfect. I had a 206 back in the day and referred to it as 2.0.6... so 2.0.8! Interior looked far more stylish than the Leaf, especially the driver dash and options. Is the e2008 retrofitted from the combustion 2008? Out of the EVs you've tried do the cars purposefully designed to be EVs feel/ perform / operate differently or feel better than "retrofitted" EVs?

Thanks for the comment James. 2 oh 8 is winning hands down rather thank two hundred and eight. The LEAF is getting a bit dated but the new Ariya is going to replace it and looks great inside and out. The 2008 was designed from scratch with the EV and ICE (internal combustion engine) both in mind so it's not too bad. A 100% EV design and build is always better in my opinion such as a Tesla model 3. You get advantages like a froot and better weight distribution leading to better handling. This also doesn't compromise space.

Had a test drive in this today and my only reservation is the range, i don't do much motorway driving and currently survive quite happily on a 28kW IONIQ so maybe it wont be an issue

Thanks for the comment Gavin. With the 45kWh battery, there should be no issue but the final decision will be yours. It's in my top 3 favourite EVs so far. I also really like the IONIQ.

It looks like there is some frame drops on the main display ? Did you notice something like this when animations play @EV Review Ireland ?

How would it be in the snow? Does it have an equivalent of limited slip differential?

Thanks for the comment Roy. Yes it has different modes (sand, mud and snow). Quoting from their website "With Advanced Grip Control technology you can manage the roadholding of your e-2008 SUV to suit conditions, by selecting one of three modes: sand, mud, and snow.". Acts like a limited differential up to 50km/h. Hope this answers your question.

It’s a 2 0 8 as you say. The only thing I don’t understand is the optional extra of the onboard charger. Or have I got that wrong. Thanks for the review.

Thanks for the comment and clarification on how to say it! The car comes with 7kW onboard charger as standard meaning on an AC supply (house/street where you need your own cable) it can only take up to 7kW of charge. You can order it with a larger onboard AC capability of taking 11kW. This is known as triphase or three phase. Manly used on the street where it can go up to delivering 22kW. All it means is if you can find a charger that can give you 11kW, the car can take it if you spec it. Hope that makes sense?

Really like the styling on this one. I had been looking at it and interested as a potential replacement for an older EV but it's got a tough competition. The range would be OK, a bit more might be better. I think the biggest issue it faces is that it's too close in price to the likes of the eNiro (which is a bigger car), and too far away from the Leaf, Zoe etc. ID.3 looks to be coming in around this price point for a bigger car with more range. It's a tough one. I think the appeal (at this price) will be to those with Peugeot brand loyalty, or won on the styling of the 2008 and looking to go electric.

I see @ 16.26 that car is still clamped at the entrance of the Premier Inn car park Swords. That car must be there for over a year now. Good review BTW nice EV offering from Peugeot. Does it come equipped with a heat pump for Winter do you know.

Thanks for the comment irishjg1! Eagle eyes spotting that clamped car. I reached out to PEUGEOT Ireland and got this answer. "There is a thermal management system on the e-208 and e-2008, this idea is to heat or keep the traction battery cool and equally for the heating / cooling of the passenger. It's referred to as a Thermal management system (rather than a heat pump) because it heats and cools a number of areas." So looks like it and the UK site have it classified as a heat pump so surely they're the same? www.peugeot.co.uk/electric-cars/electric-technology/
