I just watched a video on retail vs. outlet and they specifically mentioned Kate Spade and Coach. At both you are primarily buying bags that are made for the outlet using lower quality materials than what you find at the retail stores. But, lots of people say they can’t tell the difference.

@@YellowSparksJoy I actually just purchased my first Kate Spade on Poshmark used. Waiting patiently for it to arrive! We have a Kate Spade store in Altlanta and am tempted to visit this summer, but I also know it could be dangerous. 😉

I only noticed a difference with Kate Spade. I didn’t realize I was buying a outlet bag. But the black leather detailing had adhesive and came loose from the bag. The leather was also a lot stiffer-more like durable plastic. I replaced it twice ..and decided to stick to boutique.

I am not sure about Kate Spade but Coach retail and outlet are separate stores. Coach has bags that are specifically made for the outlet stores. Sometimes you will find a retail bag that is last season or a return at the outlet for a deep discount. Both bags are good quality but retail is better leather and has more detail on their bags. They do not carry the same bags. If you buy a bag at the retail store you cannot return it to the outlet or outlet bag cannot be returned at the retail store. I hope this clarifies it.
