Kate Spade will always be one of my favorite designer brands. That's exactly why the current trajectory of the brand concerns me as far as its popularity, prestige, and legacy are concerned. What are your thoughts on Kate Spade?

I love Kate Spade - always have, always will. I have higher end designer bags too, but I do find myself reaching for contemporary brands like Kate Spade frequently. I don’t worry about them when I carry them and they’re pretty. Just because you don’t see Hollywood stars carrying the brand anymore doesn’t mean they’re not out there and popular with average, every day people. I see them all the time where I live. I just went to the boutique not too long ago, and it was plenty busy, as was the outlet store when I was there last. They may not have the hype, but they’ve got staying power, in my opinion. ❤

Kate spade used to be so stylish but now their logos are much bigger and their designs just aren’t as special as they used to be. You’re absolutely right that there are too many designs on their website and not many are the iconic Kate spade style.

I grew up at the same time when KS bags were THE IT BAGS. But I couldn’t afford them for a long, long time. Now living in Japan which for many years has been important KS territory, there are a tonne of bags out on the pre-loved market that allowed me to build a collection in no time. It may not be the cool brand it once was, but it will always have a special place in my heart. Plus, the ladylike with a splash of retro/vintage vibe is a perfect match to my own style. Thanks for the wonderful video, I’ve waited ages for a creator to come out with this!💚💚💚

I love kate Spade bags and alot of their accessories i have a few of the bags .I remember the first time when she used to write for jane magazine and me seeing gwen paltrow in one of her bags in lucky magazine, she's one of my favorite designers i think kate spade will always be iconic ❤️. I use Kate Spade as my every day bags! They have really classy, modern styles still, so I like to use those, and it's fun to switch them up for the season or just every other week! Love my KS bags!

💚Kate Spade ♠️ I listened to the whole video but I still don’t hat what the deal is. I just think the zeitgeist of public taste is very fickle. I do enjoy the quality and value I get from my Kate Spade pieces.

I've always loved my KS bags. I have 4 for everyday use, and they've held up for years. I chose classic shapes and colors, so they've served me well and are still going strong. I have noticed what KS is putting out lately is more ''younger crowd'' -- so I probably won't be purchasing more from KS. It's adorable stuff, catering more to those under 25, but my '''cute'' days have been over for many years. As far as quality -- KS hasn't disappointed me. As far as ''COOL"?? Since I've never dressed for the approval of others, I guess I couldn't care less about ''cool."

The peak of my Kate Spade journey was the Cameron Street line. I was OBSESSED with the shapes and styles they had with that collection. I also got a Sam bag when they brought them back for the 25th anniversary, and it just felt so special because it was a gift in the year that I turned 25 and I wasn't expecting it. I think shortly after a new creative director took over, and the entire brand seemed to go through a massive overhaul. It just hasn't had the same sparkle it once did. Sure, I do have two of the Knott satchels which came after the overhaul, but I actually find they haven't been holding up as well as my older Kate Spade bags. Truthfully, I just wish they'd go back to their roots. 💚

As a 20 year old, Kate Spade is a bag I buy for my Mom and Mother-in-law. I've never even considered buying one for me because I've always seen KS as mature. The new fun collections are changing my mind.

I have about 4 bags..... would buy one each time I visited the States.... sorry that she passed away so early.... perhaps the brand needs a new management? I would love to see it here in Europe more.... also, perhaps without Kate Spade is the reason the brand has not expanded... it needs new designers.... without falling into the trap of raising the prices to match big brands... that's not her style.... stay true to her desire to reach young bright women who are sure of themselves, with quality merchandise.

Every so often I go back and watch Kate Spade's videos her interviews. She seemed like a very nice person. I was given a small wallet years ago but never used it. I put it away in a box but I will begin to use it. 😔

Kate Spade also sells pleather bags that are advertised as leather on their website. I bought one and once received, it felt and smelled like pleather. Interior tag confirmed that it was indeed NOT real leather. I called the company and was given an apology and a partial refund. I was told that they would correct the mistake on the website. However, I checked back a few weeks (or months) later, and the bags were still being advertised as leather bags. I have also inspected obviously pleather bags in Kate Spade stores that the sales reps claim is leather. 🙄

Actually just bought a couple of vintage ones on eBay, the ones with the spade/heart twist lock that I thought was iconic and don't know why they don't make bags with that anymore when it should be a signature for the brand? But then again I've never owned a super high end handbag so maybe I'm just basic haha

Agree that Kate Spade is quite saturated, but for bags. Once I got the Margaux, which was the only one bag I wanted I drifted away, no longer checking what's new in that department. But I'd say for clothing is still a nice option. I guess the brand kinda lost itself with Kate's passing.

Kate spade is the new coach... The bags are okay but for younger people they look tacky and dated. Its a mom's bag, they need to do an 180 if they still want to be around. And get new desingers... Its okay to be a mom bag brand but they are the low tier ones. Like the neverfull from LV is a mom bag FOR SURE. But the brand isn't. What would you pick between a random kate spade and a neverfull?

I used to enjoy the brand. I don’t like that tapestry bought it. The quality of materials is lacking. I still have Kate Spade Saturday bags. So fun. Now it’s just cheap. I have stopped buying years ago.

Here in Italy I didn't see such an hype for the brand in past years. It'n not luxurius nor elegant, Just "pop and young".

Honestly? I find the bags for Kate Spade mostly very boring these days. And too much for what you’re getting if it’s a basic design.

Exactly. In the past, the brand used lovely prints and patterns, and with two-tone colors and so on. Now most bags look like designer-bag dupes and with dull/safe colors. Or bags with boring, mature-style monogram. It is sad to see a brand, which I once loved, is falling. 😢
