Someone please point out that there is nothing romantic about child abuse. If the tables were turned, and he was the older one using her it would be crystal Clear that this is sexual abuse. Yuck. Sex with children is so inappropriate and psychologically damaging. She keeps calling him “kid” because he is a kid. She’s a 36 your old grown woman with a 15-year-old boy. He is a boy. It’s not coming of age. He’s not a lucky boy to be having sex with Kate Winslet. Michael got hurt because of her his relationships were all screwed up because of her. It’s pedophilia. They were just incredible actors.

I have no idea why they took this out. It's remotely far from making the movie look cheap or erotic. It kinda foregrounds what will eventually happen to them a good score later - to perceive life's philosophy, to live or despise living.

I think the reason the remove this scene is because it would become more apparent to the audience about the true side of Hanna. That she is illiterate prying about the books there, maybe. Or it's bec it just doesn't fit just an unecessary scene.

This is statutory rape. I cringe every time she calls him “kid”. She is abusing the boy. Were the tables turned, it would be so clear. She’s a fantastic actress and he’ played innocent soooo well. They were brilliant but for those who wish to romanticize pedophilia it’s a sad sick abusive love that left Michael twisted. It screwed up every relationship for him. Sex with children is and will always be wrong.

Why is the movie in English? The background song was in German, and it is a true German story, so why the hell did they shoot it in English? It is strange: they use Grermany bakground songs, but all the books titles r in English. Funny, really funny...
