I know a lot of music. Can't believe I didn't know Kate Wolf. This song; genius. The voice not just beautiful, but eliciting true emotions, love, but also comfort at times. So sad that she is no longer here.

Thank you sir for helping to keeping Kate’s music alive and for gifting me one of her songs I have never heard before. I first saw her perform at the Julia Morgan Theatre on College Ave. in Berkeley around 1978. There were maybe twenty-five people in the audience I saw her 11 or 12 times the last time at the Great American Music Hall in SF with an audience of two or three hundred. Her calm, kind warmth lives on her music.

Thank you for posting this. I first heard this song in the early 60's sung by Ian Campbell at the Jug of Punch Folk Club, Birmingham UK. I have in my collection the versions by Luke Kelly, Paul Simon and The Ian Campbell Folk Group. Kate Wolf has done a great version .

I first heard this song on Cape Clear Island in a tiny pub sung and played on his guitar. I was only 16, about 60 years ago, and the tune has stayed in my head ever since. I did a search on you tube and it came up with several different singers. Kate does it great justice!

She recorded a few songs written by others, such as this one by Ian Campbell. Another brilliant song is The Hobo, written by Hugh Shacklett. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. We are in her eternal circle of fans whom she blesses with every song,

I like how powerful Luke Kelly’s version of this song is and personally that is my favorite version. However, this version is a close second if not tied due to how hauntingly beautiful Kate sings it.

Thanks for noticing and commenting. I read a second comment you made about this song but it isn't showing up here yet. When I get notifications about comments it brings me to the song which sometimes is like re-discovering it all over again myself. That is the case here since I posted this one almost three years ago. I enjoyed listening to it again. It is, as you said, extraordinarily beautiful and powerful.

@@PS109VanBurenHigh there, I deleted my other comment because I preferred the comment above. Thanks for uploading the song, I love Kate Wolf and she sings this song so sweetly it almost belies the tragedy of it all.

It's a very nice song...about Hiroshima..I can't understand the pictures...Th song don't speak about funny time in the countryside...
@andrewwigglesworth30304 жыл бұрын
It's not about Hiroshima as such. The attacks upon Hiroshima and Nagasaki took place in morning, not the evening. It was a song written by Ian Campbell in 1962 as a contribution to the campaign against nuclear weapons (Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament) in Britain, though obviously meant to be internationally as well. More than a memorial, it's an incentive to get rid of the horror in waiting that is represented by nuclear weapons.
