Hi Kate! Instead of hanging on to items, I now take a pic of it and give it a new home (friend, family, swap , or Goodwill). It isnt the item, its the memories/emotions we attach to it. This mindset has helped me get rid of a ton of stuff!!!😊

Another really big benefit to minimalism is when you pass or move to a senior home that it will be less traumatic or burdensome on your love ones. While talking to my son when the thing hit I asked him about what he was going to do with my things and he said "I don't want your things". So ever since I've been going through and donating, recycling, or giving away things. I do ask on certain items to give him a choice. I've gone through a lot and I am keeping some items that are special to me. But it will make it a it easier on him and not a burden. Also, have you seen Under the Median's latest video about Loud budgeting? It's really good.

So glad I don't fall into the trap of FOMO. My social battery is practically non-existent, I usually fear receiving any kind of invitations as it means taking some of my me-time. Just meeting my neighbours and chatting about weather is enough to make me feel part of a community. In order my time is me-time, my dogs' time and my work. Anything else can get scraps of whatever time is left.

Since we started this 12 Week year….my #1 goal was healthy diet/ wt loss. Well….i have such a new lease on life. Today ‘s topic is applicable to my dietary declutter! I started with Keto/ low carb…moved into Ketovore….transitioned into Carnivore. Have the insane side effect of peace and calm. Getting decluttered of carbs has been a blessing. 15 lbs gone. Healing my body slowly from the inside out. If I had never started this myself, I would not have believed. All this is just the beginning in these FIRST 12 weeks we are doing. I do think the second 12 weeks of INTENTION, SIMPLICITY and FOCUS are going to be phenomenal ❤️ thank you for getting us started! ❤️🤗

I like the idea of a stress triangle. I envision it as a mountain, one that I climbed, and now am in the top. I’m retired, raised 4 kids as a working single parent on a tight budget. I survived. Then after downsizing, the minimalism concept took over, it evolved into the Swedish death cleaning faze and is joyfully ongoing. Now, with your inspiration, I am truly appreciating being ME. I am an artist, I’ve always been an artist, but life always got in the way. Today, I am very intentional in how I manage my days, I spend time with KZbin art tutorials, I paint several hours everyday, I go out in the middle of the day and spend a few hours sketching, have a small sandwich, and come back feeling renewed. I choose how I socialize, avoid negative people (and stop allowing them to live in my head!). My life style is mindful and frugal. I don’t have any desire to shop, I don’t need or want anything. I’m still finding things that I don’t need or want in my home and continue to let them go. I’m not a tv watcher, I have a select few KZbin channels that I watch in the evening. Thanks to you, and some other channels, my life is so improved. You are an awesome inspiration for me in the areas of money management and frugal living.

I hope it's ok to say this here (if not delete it) - Dana K White and her "container method video" was the lightbulb moment in my massively over cluttered home! I kept watching/listening to her videos as I faced 3 rooms pack to the rafters with stuff, including tonnes of sentimental stuff from my dear Mum who passed away and I boxed up and donated 80% of the contents of those rooms. My severe anxiety plummeted & it was the best feeling ever!!! I had no idea that getting rid of stuff would do, what no medication or therapy had ever achieved! I strongly encourage anyone overwhelmed by clutter/guilt letting go etc to go check her out! Come back here though for everything else 😂

What I’ve learned from dealing with long-term chronic pain is that in order to have the best quality of life possible, I’ve made my life as physically manageable as possible. I have simplified my life by choosing not to live with clutter, only buying what I really need instead of mindlessly consuming ‘stuff’, and keeping a budget so that I’m never stressed about whether or not I have enough to pay my bills etc. Two influences which have helped me enormously are: my mother’s experience of poverty as a child and a young person (she grew up in the Great Depression in a very impoverished part of the UK). She was frugal all of her life and that taught me a great deal about living within my means. The second is what I learned from doing a pain management course, where we were encouraged to Plan, Prioritise and Pace our lives. (Planning and prioritising are very useful tools to have in order to live well on a low income). By following these principles I’m able to enjoy my life regardless of the challenges I live with. Love your channel, Kate. Many thanks. 😊🇦🇺

The other night I had a nightmare that I had to pay $1400+ for something and I had no money. I felt the panic I used to feel years ago and was trying to find my high school friend's dad's phone number to ask him to help me. Luckily it was a dream. I've been debt free for years and it's because my husband won't let me make him broke. He's got health problems now and told me I have to control myself for whenever he is not here anymore. I know that's true and have been tracking expenses to live within my retirement income only, not his social security or other money. Happy Frugal Friday, Kate! I love this!! My two favorite minimalist youtubers are Joshua Becker and Natalie Bennett. I have also found that minimalism is different for everyone. With me, I do have what others would consider excess plates, cups and silverware, but we have people over periodically and have enough for bigger gatherings (like 10 people max). I have also found that, for me, it works best to have a 'declutter box' in my sunroom all the time, so that I have somewhere to put the stuff I want to declutter, but I am also not making a donation run every week 🙂 I love all your videos and would love to see another colab with you and Joshua Becker!!

I feel I’ve been doing great at frugal living, and I’m at the point where I can move forward with some work on my house… but the neighbors have seen the work, and all of a sudden they want to spend my money and are harassing me to replace fences and get tree surgeons to cut down ( well pruned )trees… needless to say this is causing me great anxiety… I can’t pay for everything. I’ve given them timelines and one neighbor I’ve had to cut ties with because she would invite herself over to snoop and critique everything. My place needs a lot of updating and I’m excited to do a lot of the work myself, but I still need to be frugal to reach my goals, and having a neighbor’s wish list isn’t helping, it’s only slowing me down.

I wonder if you could have a conversation with them to collab together to start clearing and segmenting the space for example the front door entrance way first to have only the essentials there and no hoarding items. Kinda like creating zones clear communal spaces hoarding contained to certain areas, especially if you can close the door on it, in one area etc. Or the place people would come into, kitchen or living room whichever area is causing you the most anxiety. Creating boundaries to match your needs. Good luck.
