Right..??!!?? I don't pretend to be a Huge middle distance track fan but I certainly know about Katelyn and her incredible talents and listening to the race you'd never know she was a massive contender. The girl just ran to 2nd place in both 3k and 5k NCAA races... still getting better, still looking to stamp herself as one of the greats.... yet her name is hardly mentioned throughout?? Very strange actually. Regardless, THAT was an amazing race by all 3 girls fighting for podium positions. What an exciting finish. Well done Ladies.🔥🔥🔥

I was jumping out of my skin with excitement watching the last lap. The look on Katelyn's face in the stretch - fierce. But gotta give it to Taylor Roe for igniting the last bits of fuel. At the end it seems Katelyn is thinking a mix of 'i blew it by getting bogged into the pack', but, still, 'how did she (Roe) hold on like that! I'm supposed to overcome in that situation.' In any case, Katelyn Tuohy is a champion.

another great race in the 3000m after the 5000m by katelyn tuohy when taylor roe surged to the front at 7:25, katelyn was caught and boxed out in the rail at 10th place, katelyn was patient, eventually made her way out and up and she made a move on her own to track down roe in the last 600m, tuohy went from 10th to 2nd in 3 laps! tuohy ran the fastest last 600, fastest last 400 and fastest last lap, a blazing 31s ... katelyn closed the fastest despite also going all out in the 5000m the night before, unfortunately, she ran out of real estate to successfully track roe down young katelyn gets a double runner-up finishes in the 5000m-3000m double in her cov-freshman year!

Katlyn Tuohy boxed in the 5K and similarly a late move here in the 3K. Massive ground made up on the final lap of both races. Big lessons learned at this level for her even though she has years of indoor experience prior to this Collegiate level. As the announcer rightly pointed out, when someone makes a specific move at the front, those who know they have got the pace need to be there with them. Unfortunately for Tuohy she was boxed in when the move happened and couldn't immediately get out of it. This would have caused her to use up too much energy to get herself out of it. She still has a lot to learn BUT even the best in the world makes mistakes and such mistakes have occurred with some of the worlds best distance runners.

Katelyn only lost this race because she allowed herself to get boxed early on in the race. By the time she got out of the box, she had given Taylor Rowe a 15 metre head start with 700m to go. Once she gets enough confidence back to lead out races of this standard, which I think she now has, she'll be much much harder to beat. She'll quickly avenge the two athletes that beat her in the NCAAs.
