After this beautiful piece I will pay more attention to Mahler, apparently this is his only piece for a quartet pity, this one is so sublime. From here to the heavens

Mahler's music is like peering into another world, one full of hope but in total solidarity and loneliness, a reflection of reality that can go above and beyond our mortal shackles.

Usually I prefer more or less modern classical music like Schnittke’s for example and Maxim Rysanov with friends as always performs it marvelous! But recently at onyxclassics site I found his new records in a trio. There were Maxim Rysanov (viola), Kristina Blaumane (cello) and Jacob Katsnelson (piano) and they were performing Beethoven’s works. I can tell for sure that such a beautiful music I’ve heard just few times before in my life!

I can't understand why kremer's playing so loud , can someone explain me this ? It's the same thing he did in the Mozart concerto no.5 , looks like he wants to be a soloist , a rock star .

I'm not an expert, but I feel that something is not working well on this interpretation. It isn't bad, but what could be missing to be perfect?
@regenliedsonate12910 жыл бұрын
to the mahler part: have the same feeling. They are all fantastic musicians, of course, but I consider the interpretation as not "mahlerish" enough, means that it is often to directly, strong and too little lyrically. It does not have the typical melancholic "weltschmerz" Additionally the intonation is often ... not perfect ;) And to Schnittke: I think his style simply doesn't fit into a Mahler piece. It's to comedic. Maybe that was what you meant :)

Felix Mendelssohn I think it's mostly the mic placement.

Usually Kremer does a fantastic job on Schnittke's works... But the last movement was played terribly. The dynamics were horrible, no texture, and the pianist played with extreme blurryness. And why does Kremer insist on being the loudest even when the viola and cello play their solo's? Not as good as the avro klassiek performance.

i hate it when people say "mahler and Schnittke", as though Schnittke actually contributed something to this piece. he took a wonderful quartet and ruined it! he should've left the piece with only one movement as it was!

It's hilariously awful music... hysterically bad. I've never heard anything quite so terrible and I've listened to many 20th century compositions.

But isn't that the point? Schnittke finished the Scherzo that Mahler gave up on; A Scherzo is a musical joke.
