Can’t get either of mine fired up either. It didn’t help when I set my son up with 2 discovery flights at local airport, neither instructor showed much enthusiasm, no briefing, no debriefing, little to no stick time, taxi time, etc. son had barely any idea what had happened when he came back. I’m disgusted with the behavior of our only local school. Disjointed information, nobody asked to explain anything, etc, despite all my questions. Now I’m stuck with a kid that has no spark despite the fact I could pave the way, but don’t want to push my kid into a path he isn’t in love with. Katey did a good job here. Attentive and alert, she will be fine.

I learnt to fly at an old age. I was looking around in a reasonable radius, visited multiple schools where to sign up; it’s not easy to find a good school with good instructors, and when I say “good”, it’s not meant to judge flight skill, just average attitude, etc. so I hear you. Interestingly, or ironically, I did find excellent instructors at my last stop, at my own local airport. So now I’m a private pilot...

Good morning brother in the Lord. I watched this video just moments ago of your daughter doing her first solo flight alone. Tell her, as I know you probably already have been doing, to stay in aviation as much as she can. My dad did even after he retired and flew for a Wesleyan Mission out of Key West Florida. He would go to Beliz Central America to bring Missionaries home on furlough and take them back. And he would also fly cargo/supplies to them and work with them there too. I know I'm not telling you anything you don't already know but there are so many things in ministry to do in flying. I'm proud in the Lord to try to be associated with you through KZbin because of the Ministry your doing and have done taking folks/kids to their treatments. And because of you, they will have a chance at life because they could get there. " Praise God " Blessings Bishop Kirby

Well done Katey! No pressure there right? Over 61,000 viewer watching you solo. And good job dad! You have definitely done something right! I have enjoyed many of your episodes but this one was very cool! I live just a couple miles east of Falcon Field so Katey flew right over my place just before touching down, and I might add touching down as an accomplished pilot!

really cool! I remember my solo...I was nervous until I got airborne, then it was probably the most fun I have had in an airplane. Up there by myself, just flying....

my first solo, the 200 pound CFI got out and the Cessna 150 turned into a high performance, speed and climb monster

Congrats to your daughter! That had to be nerve racking! I am just beginning my aviation journey at 51 years old. I watch your videos all the time, and learn a lot just from watching. You have inspired me to get involved with Angel Flights some day. ( one step at a time! ). My instructor is based out of Falcon field, but most of my training will be up in Flagstaff. I’m sure that I will be spending some time down there, and if we ever get the chance, I’d like to meet you, and maybe check out your plane!

So awesome! I’m glad you had the opportunity to video her. All I have is a short video of me landing on my solo. A day she will never forget

Nice job Katey, it took me back to my first solo and the sense of relief when I landed by myself for the first time....in a Cherokee 140. PS. You need your own channel.

She did great! You will soon have a license to learn, from every flight. Never forget, Airspeed, Altitude and Ideas. Your camera angles were great too.
