Drewby you actually did really well with the pronounciations! And yes, people keep dingoes as pets in some parts of Australia ( NSW and WA, and also in VIC and NT with a permit) it’s illegal to have a dingo as a pet in Queensland, Tasmania and South Australia. Love your channel btw!! ❤️ 🇦🇺

Thank you so much! I'm happy to know I didn't butcher it. Man, so it is true about the dingoes huh? Here in the states, most people just think it's a joke, though I think the "dingo ate my baby" thing is what lead people to believe that here

I too was pretty impressed with your pronunciations! Though I have to say, accents and pronunciations differ between areas, it wasn't much different to hearing someone from another state say a town name! It's not unheard of to keep a dingo with a permit (which is pretty easy to get and more meant to keep an eye on numbers and where animals are) but they aren't a very common pet, especially in more built up areas. They also don't necessarily make the best of pets due to being more of a wild animal, though some people swear they are the best. Interesting fact, though they can bark, they do so rarely, they communicate more through howls and yeps.

Manipulation is no joke, and I think it's important that people learn what that looks like and feels like, because manipulation is way too easy for bad people looking to use you. When I was in a domestic violence group (all women) the counselor, who was female, mentioned she had created a similar program for male victims but was denied funding and told it wasn't needed. There is a group for men that is focused on those that abuse, but it just isn't quite the same.

This story just highlights how important it is to listen to men who open up about abuse because too many times men are shrugged off for what happens to them. It happened to my boyfriend when he opened up to some about his past with abuse and neglect, and it just sucks. We just gotta be more supportive of people and fully trash the idea that "oh men can't be abused/neglected/raped/ because they're men" because it's just bullshit and like you guys underlined so well, once they are told their experiences aren't valid they don't reach out anymore for the help they desperately need. It just really is disheartening.
@TheMiseryMachine
@TheMiseryMachine 3 жыл бұрын
I completely agree. It's really difficult, and it's hard enough for men to feel comfortable enough to reach out to begin with. That's why when a man does get vulnerable about something like that to me, I make sure I listen and take it very seriously. I really hope the narrative around this gets better over the next few years. Thank you so much for the comment.

Happened to my boyfriend and my father. 😔 My dad was in jail for 18 months over his abusive ex-wife. She beat on him until she realized he wasn't giving her the reaction she wanted so she had a friend hit her and blamed him for the injury. Because he had marks on him from her as well they believed her and that was that. My boyfriend was in a long term abusive relationship with a woman so manipulative she had a few members of his family convinced he was the instigator. The last time he saw her she tried to kill him so he ran from her house and walked hours to get home and get away from her. Recently (10+years later) he was picked up on a f*ing warrant because she apparently called the cops on HIM that night and he didn't know 🙄. Thank God when the judge looked at the record she could see the only times in his life he had any violent charges were when she was in his life and since it was so long ago she through it out. He was out so quickly our son didn't even notice he wasn't just working.

My cousin was abused by his last girlfriend. I was one of the only ones in the family whom he confided in and who believed him throughout the abuse. The day that we finally got him away from that witch, we found out that she had been planning to murder my cousin. To this day, I still have nightmares that she succeeded and that I not only lost my cousin, who is not only my family but one of my best friends.

Dingo puppies here in Australia are incredibly rare - almost a decade ago, I was in a situation where I saw the lodging of Knight, in prison - it was minamal security, and a house on the grounds of the prison in Sydney but separate from others - there was only one other female who was doing a long sentence, and considered dangerous there! It looked cosy, and isolated - she apparently has a good repour with the staff!

Her sentence is called being "detained at Her Majesty's pleasure", it's exceptionally rare for it to be imposed, let alone against a woman. Another case where this sentence was given was for the Anita Cobby murder where all 5 perpetrators received this sentence. It was one of the most brutal, callous & horrific crimes in Australian history. Maybe that's something you could look into doing for a future video.

So far, I'm 3 min in but I had to stop and commend you both. Sadly in this day and age there aren't many people who will speak out against domestic violence against men, most especially when the perpetrator is female. I also liked your video about Mary-Kay Letourneau. The double standards that exist in western society today are astounding at times. It's imperative that we, as a society, acknowledge the fact that predators/offenders come in all shapes and sizes. Please keep this up. You two are very special. The world needs more people like you!
@TheMiseryMachine
@TheMiseryMachine 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! I was worried that we would have a negative backlash for bringing that up but I'm happy that the response was overwhelmingly positive. Not only do male victims get ignored in general, but I feel like people who do want to speak out are afraid of getting labeled incels or misogynist purely for supporting men. You are right, we need to acknowledge that perpetrators come in all shapes, sizes, and genders. We definitely need to acknowledge the same about the victims too. I really hope the narrative on this starts to change in the next five years. Really appreciate your comment.

He said no, you get him, and she punched him in the face. This time he reported her to the police, and since then she has stopped him seeing his son, sends abusive texts to my daughter and sadly despite working long hours and having a mortgage he can't afford a solicitor to try and get access to his son again. My oldest son left a very, VERY, abusive relationship. His ex’s parents own (OWNED) a 3 story house. Convinced my husband to move in their house whilst our place is getting ready for us. I could NOT believe what I was witnessing happening to my son. His 2 younger brothers already be. But, she’s gotten away with EVERYTHING. There’s pickups to bring my granddaughter back home. The chick, played “cryWolf” also went after my youngest son. WITH NO REPERCUSSIONS. Men need more help in this area. INNOCENTMEN who all they want is to take care of their own. It’s absolutely ridiculous. The system is totally “F’d” for men.

But people are still all about "BEliEvE ALl WoMeN!" Very well done for the case. You guys are awesome and I honestly wish there were more people like minded

Laura, thank you so much for taking the time to say this! Over this past spring I got a ton of comments from those types about how "men need to shut up" or "I hate when men talk" or "why are you as a man talking about social issues?" and it was all super discouraging to me. It's not like we really say anything controversial either. Anyway, we did Shane Cheetham a couple weeks ago and I went on this tirade about how this type of outlook on men among other things is destroying men's mental health and I expected to get destroyed in the comments, but largely everyone was positive. Maybe there's hope after all. Anyway, again, thank you so much for the comment, it made my morning - Drewby

@@TheMiseryMachine glad I can help. Recently got into your channel bc you both have the same views as me when it comes to crime and you're also proof that not all true crime fans are crazy about the killers. Most of us think about the victims and what they could have gone on to do if they hadn't been killed. Your reply has made my afternoon too and I absolutely adore you both. I'm also really sorry that you have been getting abuse over this. You deserve so much better for taking the time to tell the stories of those who aren't here and non bias when telling the stories of the killers. Hope you both have a wonderful day and if you ever visit London then I would love to meet you two bc it would be great to discuss things. ❤

Australia was rife with DV in the 80s. Police simply did not care about DV so it was widely un reported and general population would ignore it in the community. Things have gotten way better since those days thank goodness, with a lot more people now taking DV seriously.

Why is everyone saying she was a cannibal? There isn't a shred of proof she ate any of him, ever. In fact, she wanted to feed him to his kids. But there is no info on whether they ate some of her "man" stew or not. So either they didn't, or no one dares say they did. No matter how you turn it, there is no available evidence one way or other.

there are so many cases where the woman claims to have only poked at the boyfriend but they straight up stabbed the guy !! there was a woman I worked with that stabbed her husband pretty badly but thankfully after a long hospital stay he survived ! but she moved away for a while then decided to cone back and started focusing her rage on me!!! I had to quick because if she had no problem stabbing her husband she really would not care about me!! she thought that I was having an affair with her husband, which was absolutely NOT TRUE IN ANY WAY !! But she was crazy so common sense is not a big part of her psyche!!
