You're right. They cut the highway scene too early. The whole family, Bud, Kelly, Peg and Al are all fighting at the same time, I believe the same family from the same car. What a classic show.

The family sticks together. They started making episodes where the stick up for one another. Bud and Kelly become good friends. Bundys are the anti-family but the network changes that in the later seasons. Family Ties still has a higher rating.

Once the fathers started fighting, the mothers followed, and then the kids. the brawl continued until traffic started moving. Everyone jumped back in their respective cars and moved half a car length before the gridlock seized up again. Once traffic stopped again, round two started. They never made it to the beach.

I recently started rewatching it and it's amazing how quickly the show found it's footing. Like the Jetsons and the Simpsons, it just nailed it right from the first episode. Very rare for shows to do that. Seinfeld couldn't even do it. The later seasons got crazy but the first few seasons were very relatable, very family oriented yet still very finny and edgy. Really there's no better time than now to watch this show. Comedy is suffering because of this silly stuff we're doing to each other nowadays.

They could never remake this show today. Too many Snowflakes would be offended. The only reason this show survived for as long as it did is because it aired on FOX when it was a brand new network and was hard to find in the first three or four seasons. But luckily when it went into syndication, it's popularity exploded.

Sorry to disagree, but a reboot for this show would be a *very* bad idea. 99.9999999999999% of the jokes would never make it to the script because Al would be accused of: *Body Shaming *S%$t Shaming *LGBT Bashing *Assault *Domestic Abuse (I think there was one episode where Bud [the son] was on the receiving end of an Bundy Beatdown by accident) And that just the first 10 episodes.

All through the (wonderful) two-part episode Peggy would not allow him to fight Jack until the very end. She knew she didn't have the votes to win Homecoming Queen so she allowed the fight knowing that it would draw a crowd and distract from her stuffing the ballot box. Al won his fight and pleaded with Peggy to take him to a doctor because he was hurt bad in said fight. But Peggy was too happy that she won Homecoming Queen to care.

That last clip was about Kelly asking her dad to beat up her now ex-boyfriend, who was there on a date with a different tramp. As dysfunctional as the Bundys were, they loved each other enough to defend each other. Al made fun of peg all of the time, but didn't allow any other man to insult or oggle her. Peg was the same way with women about Al. Kelly and bud were always at odds, but they stood up for each other when they didn't deserve the abuse they were getting from someone else. A true American family: You can't stand them, but you'll stand with them.
