The facial animation and movement of jaw etc are related to the production of the voice. I am sure Ms Battle put the musical and vocal considerations above any slightly odd expressions which might pass her face. I wouldn't have it any other way, her art is focused is her singing not the impression her smile has on camera, her singing is a joy and the facial expressions characterful. There was always a beaming smile for the audience to enjoy once the aria finished...

You people are delusional. She got fired from the met because of her diva attitude towards mainly the choristers but towards everyone as well. She got fired after demanding that people in rehersal not look at her while she was singing. I love how rumors get so twisted by people who weren't there. My aunt was at the met when all of this happened l, so I'm pretty sure she knew what was happening.

The voice sounds in great shape, especially at the top. The bottom was always a little problematic for her and it shows. The cadenza is ridiculous but she executes it very well and is dead on tune. The arm movements during the cadenza are stupid and indulgent. Singing is hard, man.

The voice is really creamy and beautiful. However the candenza is not Mozartian. When she reached the high note and stopped, then launched into a long trill, it's a bit odd. She had to break the legato line otherwise she would run out of air. But this is really more like an end of Cabelleta in Bellini's bel canto opera. Good to show off but it ruined the style of the piece.
