You Rock !!!!! a lifesaver especially for new teachers with non ed. degree. I agree we should slow down, say NO, less homework to help kids/us, some fun helps students and teachers.

YES! I love the no homework concept!! Some home situation may not be the best to concentrate on homework but also let them enjoy their families or their hobbies etc.

These videos are really helping me prepare for my first year! I’m going through the PACE program, and at first I was so overwhelmed with all that I didn’t know, really struggling with where to even begin. These have been a fantastic resource!

I appreciate all your helpful hints, but after teaching 14 years, I know for a fact that the Scope and Sequence isn't all you have to teach. Your reading groups need to be set up and changed after each assessment based on level, Accommodations must be made according to each student ARD/ IEP goals. We can teach those skills, but we all know we get a handful of students every year that are behind and aren't ready to learn that skill. lesson plans, reflections, parent communication, grading, no breaks because we're short staffed. huge number of kids in our classrooms. It's way too much, and as much as you want to look at your contract, that says nothing about tutoring , what teacher is really going to tell their principal/ evaluator/ boss, they aren't going to do it. no one. Some things have changed in our classes since you've been teaching.

Totally understand. But try not to do a bunch of extra stuff that is not in your contract. Its tough. They pile more and more every year it seems.
