#1 selling rock band of the 80's. . I saw them in 1987 at the Omni in Atlanta ; I've seen hundreds of rock artists and Loverboy was one of the best. They caught me off-guard......I had no idea they'd be so good. I would've never have expected it. .

That's awesome that Lulu clollects records and cassette tapes, I still use cassette tapes to this day. Some I have had since the 80s That still plays good, Sometimes the little felt in the middle comes off and I have to super glue them back on, Sometimes a tape will get chewed up in the cassette player.

Mike Reno, the powerhouse lead vocalist of Loverboy, hails from New Westminster, British Columbia-a place rich in history and known as the oldest city in Western Canada. Reno's gritty yet melodic voice helped propel Loverboy to fame, especially with their hit "Turn Me Loose." This song, with its driving beat and rebellious lyrics, became an anthem of the '80s, embodying the spirit of freedom and independence that resonated with so many. Mike Reno's voice and presence made it an unforgettable classic.

Loverboy was on rock radio a lot in the early eighties. This and Working For The Weekend are some of my favorites. Lead vocalist Mike Reno also recorded a great duet with Nancy Wilson from Heart named Almost Paradise. Another great duet Remember The Heroes he recorded with Sammy Hagar. It's great Lulu collects music. The first single I remember hearing is Blue Bayou by Linda Ronstadt. The B side has the Spanish version of the song. She is one of my favorite Seventies female artists. You ladies should take a listen to her music. ❤❤❤

I've known these guys since the late 70s! I used to party now and again with them! Yup, the drummer Matt Frenette still looks sexy with out a shirt! ❤️ The bassist Scott Smith disappeared on November 30, 2000😢 Scott was with two friends off the coast of San Francisco near the Golden Gate Bridge when a large wave swept him overboard. Searches conducted by the Coast Guard and a private company hired by friends and family were unsuccessful. Smith was pronounced missing and presumed dead, lost at sea. Scott was such a sweetheart!❤

LuLu, store your vinyl records flat, and never upright, yes, you've probably heard or seen then stored upright, but doing that causes warping.. flat is best, especially with multiple...and when you get a record player, scotch tape 2-3 pennies to the top of the needle to help prevent skipping and scratching.. 🤘
@genx89802 ай бұрын
Wow, lulu is a vinyl-head (I just made that word up). I'm 58 so, of course as a young person I played records, but cassettes were more portable. Then CD come but I always like vinyl records. Lulu the needle is the most important part. You can have a 500 dollar turntable and a low-end needle and the record will sound like sh...... I really didn't understand this until a few years ago I watch a few videos and learned all about this. When you are a little older and can afford it, really do your research on record needles. That is the most important aspect. I was I had keep my records but I didn't.

Founding members were lead singer Mike Reno (previously with Moxy as Mike Rynoski), guitarist Paul Dean (previously with Scrubbaloe Caine and Streetheart), keyboardist Doug Johnson, bassist Jim Clench (replaced after one gig by Scott Smith) and drummer Matt Frenette.. That was their first hit . turn me loose. Take care ladies and Kathy you always crack me up with your facial expressions Hun. Y'all take care

-Lulu, good for you for starting a record collection. Make sure you store them upright, because if you lie them flat they can warp. -I saw Pat Benatar, Loverboy and Journey in Tampa a few years ago. Great show! -Lulu, the look on your face when that guy started taking his shirt off was priceless! I'd say their signature tune would have to be "Working for the Weekend", which I'm sure everyone knows.👍

The first time I saw Loverboy was in early 1981 when they opened for Kansas, the second time I think was with Heart in 1982 and then with Joan Jett in 1983. Always put on a good show. Women used to show there love for lead singer Mike Reno by throwing bras and panties on the stage.

Saw them in '81 as my 1st concert w/ this song well featured. Mike's voice was amazing that day nailing that high note (better than in this video). Very satisfying. Notable songs include: Working For the Weekend, When It's Over, Hot Girls in Love, & The Kid is Hot Tonight (+ a few more). Mike Reno also has a hit duet w/ Anne Wilson (of Heart) w/ Almost Paradise (featured on the Footloose soundtrack) (Great song)..

I saw Loverboy supporting Def Leppard at the NEC Arena in Birmingham, UK in 1988 and they were superb, certainly better than Leppard in my humble opinion, indeed I was so impressed with the band that I purchased their t-shirt which I still have to this day. One of several Canadian band's (Triumph and Max Webster to name but two) who unfortunately didn't get the sales recognition in the UK that there music deserved.
