This was from 1986 from their biggest record 'License to ill' by the Beastie Boys... However, the rap group did not like the "macho male" attitude of this music video that portrayed the Beastie Boys as "bullying, beer-drinking jerks" (It was supposed to be a nod to the comedy movie 'Revenge of the nerds') The Beastie Boys said that the girls in the video were friends of theirs who let the members kiss them for show... Even though 'License to ill' was a huge hit in the 80's, the Beastie Boys split w/ their label Def Jam and producer Rick Rubin... the group started their own label and made the next album "Paul's boutique" in 1989, which was a stellar hip hop record and closer to their musical vision ... but it sold less at the time. However, the Beastie Boys was one of the few rap groups that transitioned commercial success from the 80's to the 90's and beyond because they had their own style and image for hip hop that defied the trends. The Beastie Boys originally started as a punk rock band in NYC (yes, they could play instruments!) But the East Coast rap scene in the 80's intrigued them and the 3 Jewish teens (Adam 'MCA' Yauch, Michael 'Mike D' Diamond and Adam 'Ad Rock' Horovitz) switched to a rap group by 1985... Their first single made MTV ("She's on it") which showed the Beastie Boys trying to chase a bikini model like Wile E. Coyote on a beach and failing every time 😂 They opened for Madonna on tour, and they recalled being taunted 'Menudo!' onstage because they wore matching outfits that made them look like the Latin boy band 😂 After the success of 'License to ill' (an album rapper Eminem cites as a huge influence!) in 1986, the Beastie Boys went on their own and sold platinum w/ the albums "Paul's boutique" in 1989... 'Check your head' in 1992... But it was the single and video for 'Sabotage' in 1994 that made the album "ill Communication" a massive record in '94. In 1998, the Beastie Boys had another hit single 'Intergalactic' from the album 'Hello nasty'... The rap group were still on top by 2004 w/ the album 'To the 5 Boroughs' ... and in 2011 w/ the album 'Hot sauce Committee Pt. 2' Sadly, the Beastie Boys ended their career in 2012 after the death of Adam 'MCA' Yauch from cancer at age 47.

This video was very much in the 80s style of "rebellious" party type videos, like Twisted Sister's "We're Not Gonna Take it", Motley Crue's "Smokin' in the Boys Room", Van Halen's "Hot for Teacher", and even Vanilla Ice's "Ice Ice Baby"

So this came out in 1986 and was off their first album. Their last album came out in 2011, and was made while MCA, aka Adam Yauch, was fighting cancer. They made a video for the song Make Some Noise off that last album, but themed it after this video and had a LOT of well known actors that you would recognize do guest parts in it. They made it into a bit of a story and the video is almost half an hour long. It is pretty funny, and worth watching. They called that one Fight For Your Right (Revisited) (Full Length). Hope you check that one out someday. MCA died not long after making that video. The city of New York named an intersection after them, for their huge contribution to hip-hop and New York culture. They’re legends. Their second album cover was a picture of one of the corners of that intersection, which was why it was chosen. There has been a fan-painted mural on the side of that building for many, many years, and it was cool to see the city name the intersection after them as a tribute.

Such an iconic song. Beastie Boys were pioneers. Fun Fact. Back in 2011 a short film was released called Fight For Your Right Revisited starring Elijah Wood as Ad-Rock, Danny McBride as MCA, and Seth Rogan as Mike D. It served as a prequel to the music video. It was released prior to Adam 'MCA' Yauch's passing in 2012. The members of the Beastie Boys played police officers in the film.

The Beastie Boys got a lot of fun music videos. Years later than this one, they made a part 2. It has a lot of familiar faces in it.
