I will never understand the double knobs, but proud of that person for trying to makeover these nightstands. We all have to start somewhere. Love how you transformed these!

I always chuckle when I see 2 knobs used like this. How hard is a trip to Home Depot or Walmart for normal sized pulls? They can be so inexpensive!

@@aok2727 I remember my first furniture project with handles. The holes weren't the standard space and there was no KZbin, or HGTV to show me that I could fill the holes and drill new ones. I just had to reuse the original ones.

Well done you, on not berating the previous owners of those drawers, it always gets my back up when people that are in the know on looking after furniture, rip apart somebody else's hard work, and by the way they look fab as always :P

Wouldn't it be funny if in five or ten years you found them in a thrift store and bought them to refinish again? I'd love that - simply for the fact that you could extend their lives even further! This is a great tutorial, and I love how they turned out.

Beautiful job! I have a tip to share. I use the bubble packaging I get from Amazon to put my brush in between coats. When I get a string of them from an Amazon, I trim off one side. Which creates a pocket for my paint brush. I then stuff them in an empty Kleenex box for easy access. I love you channel and have learned a lot thru you! Thank you!

Omg this is brilliant and so resourceful! My family makes fun of how much Amazon shipping material I have hoarded in my garage but it just seems so wasteful to trash it. Your idea for the plastic stuffing is great so thanks for sharing!

Had a little chuckle over the pottery barn name for the comp nightstands, we live about an hour from Toulouse in SWFrance. I remember this technique from late 70s but love how yours look. Subtle, which previous incarnations were not, in my house anyway! Well done Katy. Those awful double knobs are history .👏👏

I started refinishing doing so many things differently then now but jumping in & doing is what is more important. I was happy you showed the same steps on all sides of the side table, while that may seem redundant to some, I found it answered a lot of questions for me. Thanks love the finish!

I have seen this faux wood finish done once before. I was in the U. S. Navy on a ship the Captain's cabin two walls full of built in closets, lockers, and cabinets all of metal. While in the shipyard in 1971 someone came in and painted them all to look like wood. I was impressed, but I never (knowingly) saw anything like it again until watching this video.
