When we had our son, our daughter was 2 and we have NEVER been away from her. I wanted to bring her to my delivery because I was soooo nervous. We did attempt a vbac and ended up taking him C-section later and made the mistake of bringing our daughter to the hospital the day he was born. If I could do it again, I would not have done so. It was EXTREMELY hard for her to leave us and her new baby brother. I applaud you for waiting to see and talk to Brynn until AFTER you got home. I know how hard that was for you! But you totally did the right thing for BRYNN! Congrats mama. We’re all learning this motherhood/parenthood thing for the first time. NO ONE has perfected this thing called LIFE. You’re doing great!

Congratulations! I honestly left my kids with my Mom and told them each time why we were leaving. We talked up us leaving for many weeks with each birth. There were occasionally a few tears but overall they did just fine. Then again, we were not with them 24/7. They are 5 well adjusted teens and young adults thriving! Scholarships, Med School admitted and Class Presidents. Kids do well with independence when guided while gradually given age appropriate opportunities.

I remember the first morning I woke up at home with baby number two I clearly thought “holy crap did I forget everything about caring for a newborn?” And then by the end of that day I felt back on track. I had felt so nonchalant my whole pregnancy thinking I had done it once I can do it twice. It’s such an interesting experience the second time around! Congratulations, he’s so perfect! I just had my second baby, a girl at the end of October and the biggest thing I was worried about was leaving my son who is almost 3. He came to see me and the baby in the hospital and sobbed when it was time to leave, crying for me while he was practically being dragged out the door by my husband. I heard him yelling “mommy”from down the hall. When I tell you my heart broke into a million pieces 😭 worst moment of my life despite being so happy about my daughter. I’m so happy that part is over and we’re all home and happy. The nurses were reassuring, they said it happens with toddlers all the time but gosh it was awful. And I agree that 1-2 is easier so far, you’re already in parent mode vs 0-1 when your world is literally turned upside down (in the best way).

Love this and so happy for you all. Listening to your story reminded me of my daughters. She just had her 2nd baby a boy as well. I stayed and minded my granddaughter (2yrs) never been apart from her parents either. I stayed 2 nights and we played and did her routines. She asked a few times about where they were and I kept talking about the new baby is coming home soon. They were also a mess leaving her it's natural so don't worry about crying it's such an emotional and hard time. So much emotions, love and excitement. She absolutely loves her baby brother and they are all doing well too. Super exciting indeed. Enjoy your Christmas together as well and rest and recover. ❤

I had 3 littles in three and a half years, so I have a 3 yr old, a 2 yr old and a 4 month old. Let me tell you, if you want more, just go for it and get it done and over with! It’s so nice to put the postpartum stage and newborn stage behind you instead of starting over again later down the road. 3 kids is so wonderful, even though I’m in the trenches right now 😅❤
