The smooth calfskin is not a problem! It's a plus! It's the most beautiful kind of leather. It's smooth because they can only choose the highest quality of hides for a smooth calfskin, otherwise the marks on a low quality hide would show. The patina that develops on a bag is reminiscent of the olden days when things used to be made to last, and surface scratches were a badge of honor because you bought something that's made so well that even though it's old and has scratches, it's still working and beautiful. My biggest pet peeve is when people think patina is something to fear, because it's actually something to LOVE!

I love the way you explained it. It is true, i can FEEL the quality of the leather....I am IN LOVE with smooth calfskin and thought i know it will be scratches...but I'm not ready to wear them like badges of honour yet haha....

I love the look of the bag when it's sitting right on the hip when worn crossbody. That's actually what first got me to really think about this bag. The price of it brand new and the high maintenance is definitely keeping me from pulling the trigger. I saw a used one in Vestaire - the wear on the inside of the flap caused by the flap (as you mentioned) makes it a no buy for me

Gorgeous bag congrats darling! I love the box on you. I’ve always loved the Celine box I was kicking myself I didn’t buy a Plum Liege medium in Paris in 2014 and at the time when I came back from holidays I called all the stores in Paris and they sold out and even with a new piece they couldn’t ship it to me. One reason why I lovveee Kat’s Bags review so much is cos u share so much of what the bag’s actual daily usage is like 👍👍👍 And yes I am so irritated by the bag strap’s constant poking that I sold my caramel smooth Celine box bag. I LOVE this bag. I actually like this one better than the Constance! It looks so sleek and has been on my wishlist forever, but it's also super expensive here in the US. The box leather looks incredible, but I'm unbelievably clumsy so I'm scared I'll ruin it really fast. OH. EM. GEE! I’ve been waiting ages for your review on this bag! Thank you for a great 1st impression and for keeping it real and honest. I’ve loved this bag since it was first released but I just can’t pull the trigger. It is just very pricey for a brand that doesn’t keep it’s value on the resale market. For the price, you can get a second hand Chanel classic flap bag or an Hermes bag here. Another reason is bc I have a LV Pochette Métis (which I absolutely love), my impression is that the Box and the PM are quite similar bags in terms of functionality so I can’t justify getting a similar bag but which is a much more expensive bag than an LV. Even the PM in Empreinte leather is just a little over half the price of the Box. But I know in terms of look and style, the Box is so much more sleek and chic! I hope you can do a comparison of the two bags - pretty please! I’ve asked a few different Celine SAs here and they all have different things to say. One said, when the new collection is launched, the store will stop selling Phoebe Philo’s designs. Another SA told me the old collection will be available but with new logo - the new Celine name will be missing the accented E. I really hope I can add one more bag before the old collection disappears. I feel very sad that the Celine which Phoebe Philo helped crafted and build will soon be no longer. According to reports, she hasn’t signed up to any fashion houses and there are even speculation that she might be taking a very long break or even retiring! What a loss to women’s fashion!

Your reviews are so thorough, I love it. So so helpful! I am wondering if you can position the strap hardware inside the bag so it’s not showing or moving around? Idk, but then it may or will scratch the bag but only the inside of the bag. I really love how it looked on you on your vlog. It looks great over coats, jackets, blazers! I have this bag in navy blue. Same leather as yours. Beautiful but not comfortable to use. So it sits most of the time beautifully for view only. Won’t sell off as it is a classic beautiful bag. Won’t buy a second piece for sure even if the designer decided not to sell it anymore. After having this bag, I totally hesitate to buy that even more expensive Constance. It is likely to be the same situation.....hahaha! Love yours!

I totally agree with you: pros and cons: the strip is quite annoying, the metal buckles are uncomfortable. I’ve had it for 8 years, because it is not that comfortable to use, mine is still quite new (minus some scratches from the days I got it) Don’t worry about the glazing, mine is still as good as day 1.

Enjoyed the video and you are adorable. It’s a gorgeous bag! If you are in a situation that you are worried about security I recommend not carrying a bag that costs $4K+. I would not assume a minimal logo is safer. It still looks very expensive.

Arya~~ our taste is quite similar lol I also got this from Italy this year, cost about HKD 24k after tax (think retailing about hkd31k in HK?). I bought this mainly cuz I also adore its simplicity and sleek silhouettes~ it can pack lot of stuff as you say but I do agree the two clips is kinda unforgiving if you are wearing summer clothes but more tolerable if winter thick clothing ~ I store mine consciously make sure the strap is coil right above my bag and secure its position by tying up my dust bag, then I don’t need to remove it every time I use it (I suspect if you remove the strap too often could weaken the strap lock 🤫)

Happy happy Kat😍😍😍. And the sales associate is an angel. Just like my (story) YSL wallet (you know me-love wallets) it was reserved for 30 days just for me, hehe. Normally, 3 days only is their reservation period. So right after the storm here in Baguio, I and my (supportive) family went off to Manila and went straight to the shop. Great video! So celine has this leather called liege leather, its textured leather, kind of like caviar but instead of dots its lines. Liege leather is super durable and comes in the box bag option, the problem is they don't offer it often and it's always a seasonal offering. I found it's much easier to find liege box bags in europe than the US, but that was before the house changed designers. Both of my box bags are liege leather and I treat them like crap! They still look brand new. The strap has never bothered me, I always flip it to the front so it look like a design and because I have the texture leather bag I'm never worried about them scratching my bag, but I do store the strap separately from the bag.

The delicacy? Of this bag reminds me of my Givenchy antigona in the smooth leather. I fell inlove with the looks of it as well but its not scratch proof at all. The strap has a buckle that is so sharp as well. I believe my bag got its 1st scratch from that buckle 😡

Hey Kat they still have this bag but it now has a very ugly front clasp that looks like an ugly CC logo that reminds me of Cartier but much uglier. If you like this bag it’s good you got the Phoebe design! My fave travel bag is the Celine Trio in size large - it carries the kitchen sink and you could never tell from the front and it’s also really discreet and comfortable. I also have the Celine nano (the small cross body bag). Both hold a lot and the leather is very high quality when I wanna look simple and sleek without logos galore! Enjoy your bag!!

Yes! It also comes in Goat Leather which is super durable and has a nice natural grain! And it comes in a stamped leather similar to Hermes Epsom, and a smooth glazed calf (not quite patent but similar) - so a few options! 💙
