At its core, the story of The Hunger Games is about the power of one person to change the world.
Set in the future remnants of the USA in a new nation called Panem, one male and one female "tribute" between the ages of 11 and 18 from each of Panem's twelve districts is forced to participate in an annual competition called the Hunger Games, which is broadcast live throughout the country for the entertainment of the Capitol's wealthy residents.
Now, bestselling author Suzanne Collins and the world of The Hunger Games return in her latest addition to the series: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.

There was an interview and it ended up on KZbin. She was in a lot of pain every day. They had to figure out how she was going to the bathroom. She couldn’t sit. They talked about her sitting scenes. She’s not in full costume or it was modified for that scene only. She deserves a freaking Oscar for her roll.

It does mean so much, but it also makes me sad how dismissive he seems for the other victors in the movie while explaining them. When in the book he was devastated because he’s friends and grown attached to all the victors and he can’t stand the thought of any of them dying, because he wants katniss and Peeta to survive but he doesn’t want any of the others to die either. I understand why they made Haymitch this way in the movie and have him explain the tributes the way he does for quickness and all… but it makes more sense I’m the book how it’s Peeta who’s watching all the past hunger games and learning about the victors they have to face so he is more disconnected from them

Peeta hates Snow to bits as well, but he is much more careful with his behaviour and sees how the entire system is problematic, giving rise to a person like Snow in the first place. I always loved this first meeting between Katniss and Finnick!!! He's been a champion, rich playboy alll his life because of his good looks and she is a two-year veteran of the Games. And when he approaches her it's like he's flirting with her but not really when he says "What about you girl on fire, do you have any secrets worth my time?"...And the stare she gives him back. In the books (Spoiler) Finnick was prostituted out by President Snow as a teenager because of his looks, which is pretty fucking dark and pedo, but that just shows you how damaged Finnick is. He is portrayed as a 27-years old in the movie, but in the books is a damaged soul. Pita knows he's not a romantic threat, which is a good thing!! One of my favorite scene!!! 🔱

Katniss: boo, you whore Finnick: lol at least my doomed engagement isn't fake :P Seriously though, I love how his dialogue is written. He was forced into a horrific situation, but he's smart as hell, and it shows.

What I still find hilarious is that their strategy meeting, in terms of Katniss, involved “getting more allies”. Meanwhile Katniss chose her allies and they’re like “y’know what I’ll tell them you’re reconsidering”. 😅 Hey, they didn’t specify what SORT of allies they wanted. Besides, I think she picked somewhat strategically?? (SPOILERS) - Beetee and Wiress showed her stuff about the shielding and overall seemed like very intelligent people. Taking advantage of their knowledge comes in hand. - Mags is beloved by many district victors, including Finnick. With this, she at least guarantees Finnick will join Katniss out of concern for his mentor. Or it’s just a coincidence and she didn’t see anything within them and I’m reading too much into it.

I find it hard to believe that none of those victors went completely to seed except for haymitch. They would abandon their training and sink right into PTSD. Although snow probably says keep yourself beautiful or die so who knows.

the games never actually ended for them. you see, their families are instantly held under strict and strong supervision. if they put even a toe out of line, their whole family could end. joanna was proof. snow took her whole family away from her.

But it’s not only Haymitch. Katniss says in the book that most of the victors are extremely worn down from becoming alcohol or motoring addicts. The only healthy victors that looked well were her and Peeta, finnick and Johanna and the careers

@@Rudenbehrespecially in the books though Peeta was a capitol favourite, obviously katniss was bigger from the stuff she done and Peeta’s inclusion of the lovers angle helped but Peeta was always a massive hit with the crowds when it comes to interviews and public performance. Katniss would always say how Peeta’s interviews would always blow everyone’s else’s out the water and he had them shouting out to him and howling from the get go and him and caesar became a double act. Even in the first games, obviously the stuff katniss did stood out (I think the audiences loved it but I think katniss more stood out for the rebellion sides as well) but Peeta was shown a lot more in the final tape of the hunger games until they started working together, katniss even says how he was carrying the performance with the camera and drew in audiences and katniss was more interesting when she did something big and then started playing into the love thing back. I feel like it’s just that in the movie here, they wanted to put an emphasis on katniss with the story but I imagine people would be cheering for him as well, because the capitol audiences definitely adores Peeta… the movies didn’t show it as well but there’s a reason why Haymitch says in mockingjay ‘not including when Peeta made you like her’ when talking about what made people start to notice or like her

So finnec is the youngest to win at 14? Why even have people as young as 12 years old compete? If they made it all 18 year olds there would be a lot less uproar, seeing malnourished children die to bulking 18 year olds isn’t threatening or fear inspiring, it’s just unfair
@ginni7788

The point is to cow the districts, not make them feel like they have a fighting chance. Their children aren't safe, it's the most visceral fear a parent can have, and seeing their fears play out so viciously is exactly the point. I recommend the books so much, they really manage to flesh out the story, history, background and true devastation these games and the war that ensures impart.

@@ginni7788I thought the point of the games is to show everyone there is a chance to become a higher class? Snow says it himself, the games are more about hope, the (very very very small) chance that anyone can rise to the top of the system, even those in the outlying districts. Showing favoritism to the loyalist districts shows the people that regardless of loyalty, their position in their society was already chosen for them. TLDR, if the point was just to sow fear, they would have just executed the reaped children
@ginni7788
@ginni7788 7 ай бұрын
@@hansofaxalia quoting Snow is exactly how you should know it's not a true or fair statement. The higher class districts are ones that provide the most important and dangerous resources so are needed to be kept loyal (technology and fighters). Again, the books are much more detailed in these power dynamics. Simply murdering kids would spark rebellion. The tradition and showmanship and 'justified' need to remember history's failures and potential of destroying the world without it is why it doesn't blow up in their faces for so long. Not to mention that it's 'only' two kids. The chances are small, it's not too bad, plus is you sign up for extra slips (i.e. extra chance to get picked) you get tessera, food for your family and fuel for your heater. All in all, the games give no real chance of glory outside of district 1 and 2, and even after winning the tributes are subjected to horrible things in secret. Again, the books should be your source, not President Snow!!!
