Greg, looked like a nice tournament. Those foot paddled yaks really zipped down the lake! 27th is very respectable and kudos to whomever caught that 27 incher at Lady Bird! Looks like you are settling in just fine in the great republic of Texas. - Don

Thanks, Don! The take off was insane! so much adrenaline when it's a race to your first spot against 132 other guys!

Right on Greg...I would say you did well in such a large field of anglers! Look forward to your next tournament report and good luck!

Thank you, sir! It was definitely a bit of a change fishing from10-15 man tournament to 100+ haha. Good times though.

Great job Greg, fishing looks great down there! Must be nice to be able to get out on the water without putting on 10 layers. Looks like you had a good game plan. You will get dialed in soon. Good luck at the next one.

thanks, Shawn! Fishing in February has never felt better! Definitely gonna make a few adjustments for the next tournament such as getting a landing net but either way having a lot of fun down here so far. Good luck with your DPS tournaments coming up, I'll be anxious to see the results and maybe a video if you bring your Gopro out with you!

Thanks Kurt. Trust me, I understand the cabin fever you must be going through! But looks like you guys have an exciting tournament trail coming up this year. Gonna do my best to make the Cayuga and/or seneca tournaments!

Man, you travel for your fishing. I lived in A Town for 10 years. I'm told a large bass jig is the way to go in that lake. Don't know if you tried one and I know it's a little late but there ya go.
@GregBlanchardFishing9 жыл бұрын
haha I travel for work but fishing location always plays a role in where I pick next! Good call on the bass jig-used one yesterday and slammed em' practicing for the next tournament!

Greg, I have been watching your videos for a while. I didn't know until now, I fished this tournament with you. It was my first tournament. We basically fished the same spots. It was a rough day for me as well. I couldn't believe that lady caught the 12lber while eating a raddish. Too bad she didn't enter big bass.
@GregBlanchardFishing6 жыл бұрын
Yeah I remember that, such a big fish

@@GregBlanchardFishing yea man, I miss some of the fishing in Texas. Moved to Arkansas and there are some great places here. Just figuring things out. But it's not Texas.

Nice video Greg and welcome to Texas! Good luck on Bastrop! Check out Sam Hawes' channel (the basscolonel) as well as the Texas Fishing Forum for some good info on Lake Bastrop. Who knows, maybe I'll see you on a Texas lake soon. - Matt

Thanks for the info, Matt! I'll definitely check out that channel and the TFF has been helpful so far! Fished Bastrop today and last week and it was an absolute blast. Still waitin' for that Texas giant though!

Man I was watching this while laying in bed with my headphones on and my wife asked me, Are you ok??? I’m like yes why? She said because you made this sound like you were hurt! I said oh that’s because I just saw my buddy lose a badass fish!!! Lol
@FishnTv9 жыл бұрын
That bass was still there on that bed. I accidentally spooked her as I was chasing another bass next to it. I think I saw you out there

Yeah man, I think a bunch of the guys fishing the tournament found those 2 fish but I think I was the only one dumb enough to keeping coming back! haha.

Very nice video Greg! Can't wait to get back on the open water too. 32" of ice is not helping around here lol... What a cool tournament and nice work on placing in a decent spot! So do you live in Texas now?
@GregBlanchardFishing9 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Bryan! Yep, live in Texas for now and hopefully until the end of June....and maybe returning every winter to avoid that 32'' of ice you speak of lol

Greg Blanchard lol That's cool. Texas is warm and has big bass too. Sound like a good time. Keep up the fishing!

Yea I have been looking into those types but unfortunately. Its out of my budget for now. I will figure something out. What kind of entry fee do you guys have?
@GregBlanchardFishing8 жыл бұрын
+Darrell Daugherty I believe after alls said and done it's around 60-80 bucks. There are multiple side pots that are options such as big bass that can add to the fee.

greg are you still working up in maryland? do you ever fish virginia? there is a kayak fishing series in the area that just fished lake anna today and my buddy won that one. im down in chesapeake, va and looking to get myself into a slayer propel 13. i appreciate the video you did talking about it but its more of a pain to try and find one to test out around here as all the shops only do one demo day a year.
@GregBlanchardFishing9 жыл бұрын
Hey Anthony-I'm not working in MD anymore and just took a job in central TX about a month and a half ago. I was following that tournament on Lake Anna with the iAngler and it was a tight race-congrats to your buddy catching them in frigid temps. Definitely a good idea to test out a yak before purchase. I'd try to call shops and tell them you are seriously interested and to see if they could setup a private demo. Either way, I'm confident you'd enjoy the Slayer propel.
@austinbassin44208 жыл бұрын
Are you allowed to have a trolling motor on your kayak?
@GregBlanchardFishing8 жыл бұрын
+Darrell Daugherty For the tournaments, I don't believe so unless there is a special circumstance such as a disability.
@austinbassin44208 жыл бұрын
Thanks Greg, I would love to get into the tournaments but there is no way that I would be willing to paddle around all day haha. ] this old body just ain't what it used to be Lol.
@GregBlanchardFishing8 жыл бұрын
+Darrell Daugherty Understandable, Darrell. Sounds like you may fit the bill for a Pedal kayak (Easier on the body and both models I'll mention have great/comfortable seating options). Choices are either a Hobie or Nativewatercraft kayak. Problem is both of those yaks have some serious weight to them that you'd probably not want to lift either of them for any length of time. If you have the means, one of these yaks and a small trailer might put you on the water with ease and minimal stress on the body.
