The quite amusing scene is that the 90-year-old granny suddenly put on a serious face and asked a most vibe-changing philosophical question: what’s the point of longevity. Fortunately, 阳离子 offered an adequately shrewd answer that melted the ice on granny’s face.

Hi, Katherine. About the sweet potatoes cubes. Here in Brazil we have something similar. They dry these cubes in order to produce a powder, used in bakery, biscuits, sweets, you name it. Here in my country these cubes are made out of cassava. It's a tradicion of the native people.

Born and raised in China. Read the classic "Three Kingdoms" from begin to end. But never knew the hometown of one of the three kings, Sun Quan and how his kins and decedents are living now in modern day China. Thank you Katherine.
@BBingZhu2 ай бұрын
对了,Sun was a king, not an emperor. 既然是“三国”,那就是在三个king还在争着抢皇帝位置,而且孙权以后也没赢,所以不能说他是一个 emperor。Katherine has mastered Chinese (almost), but not ready to talk that part of the Chinese history yet.😊谢谢 Katherine,做了一个非常好的视频!

Cool! You're finally in Longmen village! Yeah, the rice fields surrounding the village, the ducks in the nearby streams, it's all so beautiful! You can also feel the warmth of the people in the buildings here that are very lived-in. They also still have "night fragrance dumpers" (night soil carriers) which surprised me when i first visited. Also those white bricks i think are dried bricks of sweet potato starch (红薯淀粉). There's plenty of recipes for uses of sweet potato starch, especially for chewy mochi-like sweets or for making noodles. and yep, this isn't just any emperor's village of origin, this is Sun Quan's ancestral home, one of the three kings of the Three Kingdoms era. The central building in that cluster is their ancestral worship ci-tang shrine for the Sun 孙 family name.

I'm in Canada, I remember when I was 4 or 5 my dad bought me one of those chinese toy guns from like, the dollar store or something. They were everywhere. It had those firecracker rounds so it would make a huge bang and a little spark. I would cry every time my dad triggered it and he'd laugh. I think they got banned after a year or two either because the spark caused a fire while a kid was playing with it or the bang was too realistic and it caused concerns. I never saw them again in stores
