uh this color-coded preference isn't new, or limited to comedy, you can look at roles throughout the ages, especially ones that are depicted as being portrayed by dark-skinned characters. One of my favorite examples doesn't come from history, or some original Hollywood writer's room, but rather a comic book, (imagine that? you know where this is going.) Storm is probably the most iconic black woman in the entire comic book industry, and at no time prior to Hallie Berry playing the role in the living action movie was she ever depicted as anything but Dark skinned, and its not like Hallie did a great job in the movie portraying her, or her VERY noticeable African accent or dialect, but when they had to do a new version of the X-Men who did they hire? Another light-skinned black woman, who also did not do anything for the role or was kept true to the character. I will die on this hill alone because no one else acknowledges it.
