I did Rev for a few months. I actually loved it and there where quite a few jobs which I picked up from clients in my own country (New Zealand) but, you can really risk losing your account by picking up bad audio quality jobs, and/or jobs with heavy accents. There are strict rules around the time you have to change your mind on a job, after picking it up, and also around delivery times - though each transcription is different. It can be fun and you can definitely make money from it but, it can also be a nightmare at 1am when you're still awake, transcribing, and you'd rather be sleeping in bed.

Yes, great point! This example in this video is a best case scenario. Transcription software may not take into account accents, dialects, speaking too fast, the content itself. You always have to review the work before finishing it.

Really is a good opportunity now and it's so easy these days with all the apps competing with each other. There's a ton of people that doesn't know about apps like Descript that's extremely accurate, doing most of the work for you. You'll just need to go back and make some minor corrections. Then you can layer additional services like pulling out clips from the long-form content you're transcribing for short-form content with captions that can be repurposed for marketing. I use it all the time for my content.

Such a great content Kat!! I think it would have been such a great deal if you explained steps to creating an account on rev and some other necessary information after the account’s creation. I did try creating an account but I was asked about company! Which I don’t know what that meant! I’m sure some persons would also have this same problem with creating an account.

Plus for Rev, you have to take a grammar test and a sample transcription. Your typing speed needs to be in the 60’s. Unless your really good in the aforementioned, you will need to study their guide. Kat has oversimplified this. They don’t play. All the KZbin’s I’ve watched have a transcribed script. I doubt if someone is doing that for them. It might be & I’am guessing within the KZbin algorithm.

If I remember correctly, they’re asking why you want to work for them. They want a. Idea of your thought process and ability to write. Make sure you study their guide before u take their test. You need to know grammar & punctuation pretty well. Their transcription test can also be difficult. Some things are hard to hear & interpret. They’re not lenient in grading them either.

I tried this job years ago. Idk if it’s my kids were too loud but the videos you have to transcribe are really bad and hard to transcribe. There’s alot of noise in the background and you need a good ear and good headphones to make sure you are hearing what the people are saying to type what is said.

Hey, I recently found a good paying online job while searching for writing jobs online and wanted to put it out there. I came across a website called Paid Online Writing Jobs. Intrigued, I clicked on the link and began exploring the site. I discovered that the website offered paid writing jobs for writers of all levels and interests. Eager to give it a try I signed up for an account and started browsing the available writing gigs. I was surprised at the wide range of writing opportunities available, from blog posts and articles to product reviews and copywriting. I applied for several of the jobs that caught my eye, spending hours crafting the perfect cover letters and submitting writing samples that showcased my skills and talents. Days later I received an email from Paid Online Writing Jobs. The email informed me that I had been selected for a paid writing gig, and that I would be paid for each article I wrote. I was thrilled I had finally found a way to turn my passion for writing into a source of income. Over the next few weeks, I poured my heart and soul into my writing which wasn't that hard to be honest. I researched my topics thoroughly, And best of all, I was getting paid for it. Kat-I love your videos, but have to tell you my experience with Rev. I applied in April as a Transcriptionist. Had to take a test transcribing based on their guidelines. In November they said I did not pass the test. Not only did they let me wait forever to know-being a beginner was not taken into account. I have heard the captioning test is easier to pass. It is unacceptable to wait this long.

That's why when something sounds too good to be true it usually is. I listen to this type of video sometimes but, I don't bother to actually do it because I know it doesn't really work. These are usually done so the person making the video can make money with content so people will watch it.

I hope Rev has improved because it was horrible when I did it. They would pick who they wanted to give the good jobs. I signed up to transcribe videos, but they never assigned me any videos. I was always assigned audio jobs that were very difficult to understand due to various accents and loud noises in the background. I was lucky to get paid $10.00 for six to eight hours per day in a week.
