"I didn't like the ending" was SO wonderfully meta and self-referential because King is constantly being criticized for his endings.

I’m a die hard IT novel fan. I thought they did a commendable attempt adapting such complex material. I do wish they did a better job explain what IT is, the ritual of Chud, IT’s dead lights, and that the Losers all have “The Shine”. Which is King’s version of special powers. Like Danny Torrance and Abra Stone. Except the losers all have small amounts of it. Then when they band together they’re extremely powerful. Which is why they’re the only ones able to defeat IT. IT actually fears them. There’s a great inner monologue in the book where he feels fear for the first time in his existence after fighting them on the house on Neibolt St.

"As a parent, if your kid gets up and walks away, aren't you gonna ask where they're going?" Not in Derry. The movies didn't touch on just how much influence Pennywise had on Derry and most of its residents. It's the same reason why the car rolls by Ben getting cut up in the first movie, Pennywise makes them look the other way. Also, Pennywise is and is not an alien. It is one based on the fact that It isn't from earth, but it's not exactly from space either. It comes from outside.

Isn’t it called something like the macroverse that IT is from? I think it's like a pocket universe in between universes or something. The dark tower series explains it better.

@Jumpyman_thegamerYT15 күн бұрын
11:42 Yeah, that point you made about the parents not noticing is down to Pennywise's power. It's essentially a scare/manipulation tactic that the entity uses. By making the parents/adults unaware of everything that Pennywise does, by IT using it's psychic ability, it essentially makes the kids feel isolated and alone. Because not even their own parents support them when their kids tell them that they saw something terrifying. This, in turn, makes them an even easier target, as they are more susceptible to being scared and horrified.
@beestingza14 күн бұрын

And the funniest thing about it is that the got the same actress who played Eddie's mother in the first chapter to play his wife in the second. Too funny.

I love Kat's reactions. She rapidly became one of my favorite reactors and I figured watching this reaction is a good way of seeing this. I never got around to watching It Part 2 because I really did not like the first part. It is one of my most favorite books of all time and the first Stephen King that I read (when I was 12, lol). The time changes didn't bother me, but a lot of other changes did, in particular the SA Beverly doesn't experience from her father in the book that she does in the movie. (Yes, there are hints her father may have gone down that path, but he never did in the novel). A lot has been made of "THAT SCENE" from the book but Beverly in the book has full control over her sexual decisions. Taking that away from her in the movie is way more fucked up than "THAT SCENE" when you really think about it. Beverly goes from full agency to being a SA victim for absolutely no reason. The physical abuse she suffers from her father are horrific enough without adding that kind of trauma to her as well. It feels exploitative and gross in a way that I have a hard time articulating. Sorry, this has seriously bothered me since I watched the first part when it came out. I love your reactions, Kat, and always look forward to the next one!
