Didn't she pixie cut her hair in the Part Of Me music video though, yet the song still reached #1 for weeks? I really doubt it was the haircut, but the marketing tactics she tried to pull like the Big Brother-style livestream and desperate for being quirky while trying to promote Witness as 'purposeful/political pop'. It just made her seem uninformed and blind to the perception trying to entertain people by shoving stuff in everyone's faces - that's what turned me off with her album rollout. And the singles she allowed to release after the lead were demeaning, going against was she was trying to stand for.

kiwi senpai the thing with ARTPOP was, that even though it was spat out by the public a year and a half later there was nothing but pop heavily influenced with EDM on the radio. Showing yet again, how Gaga is ahead of her time on multiple occasions. And compared to Witness, it has done better in charting and singles. But it is true that both are the albums where artists avert too much from the sound that people are used to by them and it is not appreciated. It’s unfortunate that artists are only allowed to remain on their one note and to not transcend outside the established sound.

The misogyny is so engrained in the music industry-female artists need to be young and the longest their popularity lasts around 8 years. After that, they are seen as too old and irrelevant, whereas male artists can be famous for much longer. Think about it-Katy Perry, GaGa, Avril Lavigne, Nicki Minaj, Beyoncé-once pop powerhouses and now nowhere to be seen, unlike Maroon 5, Justin Bieber, and the likes. The only artist who I would argue defies this somewhat is Taylor Swift, who-with her album folklore-now has the FIFTH best selling album of a certain year and has undeniably been relevant since 2006 because she simply keeps reinventing herself and keeping listeners interested. Also helps that she got started really young.

She even had to pay for streams in lover 2019 era to compete with 1989 era aka her previous global era. Taylor swift got her success wayy to easy, her rich parents bought a apart of her record label and although she can write catchy songs, she still has alot of co writers help with making her most complex songs, she isnt a very good singer, can't dance and an average performer but her parents made up for it.

Alot of the reason why female artists aren't relevant after 30 us due to other girls and women seeing them as interesting 3. Its easier for men because when a male young handsome artist comes out, girls run towards him for their fantasies and guys support their fellow dudes however when its girls, girls rather only come to girls when they want to feel like they can relate or they want to feel empowered however most just ignore female singers while males due to society most times dont support female artists or just don't like their style of music so there are much more famous male artists than females that people just got use to the formular 4. Women always try to compete with one another now the standard is so relatively high especially for blk women

I think it's mindblowing how ignorant people are about what makes a good vocalist. Nobody seems to have enough critical thought room left in their brain to realize you can't just decide if someone is vocally gifted and skilled based on what you WANT the answer to be. Katy is actually a really good vocalist - you don't have to love her tone to know she has technique and talent. And those same people completely ignore that Taylor Swift has the absolute bare minimum passable vocal skills... Taylor Swift's vocals are what you get when you take someone who is not talented, has no predisposition and isn't really built to sing, and put them through years of expensive vocal training to _just_ get by as being decent.
