I always thought her song ‘Dear future husband’ was satire, like she’s saying “men have all these ridiculous standards for women, so what if I had all these ridiculous standards for men.” That’s just how I interpreted it, I could be wrong I really don’t like the message she sends with most of her songs either way.

It looks like Meghan's real problem is insecurity: you can tell she was bullied for her size, causing her to feel bad about herself. And there's nothing wrong with having those feelings- we all go through it. The problem arises when insecurity turns to jealousy, which then leads to projection. I believe this to be the root cause of her hypocrisy towards slimmer girls as well as her ignorance to thin-centric problems. Bitterness is her demon and she needs to overcome it because it's effecting her music and herself.

@haileypankers5 жыл бұрын
@@ameliaw4561 I have also had thoughts about that. I used to always wish I could gain more weight but I just can't. I gain weight with muscle, (I'm a gymnast and I work out for 7 hours a week.), but even that isn't enough to gain the amount of weight I want. So. Yeah. I also have high metabolism. But yeah I guess it is both sides. I've learned to accept myself but other people in general are still struggling. Also, sorry if this was too long 😅
@HansBjorgman5 жыл бұрын
Everyone always wants what they don't have. Also, people shouldn't make fun of each other for their body types. What's undesirable to some is desirable to some and vice versa. I think, if someone wants to make a change, they should exercise or lift weights to achieve the body they want, but don't go out of the realm of what isn't physically possible for your body type. Or... just learn to love yourself... but you already said that (I'm seeing that now after writing this far), so I probably shouldn't reiterate it. People should stop being assholes and learn that everyone is born differently. Not everyone is supposed to be the same. 'Perfect' does not exist. Only the perception for what people believe is perfect exists. Sorry I wrote too much. I don't really know what I'm talking about. Just felt like writing that.

"i tried being anorexic"? anorexia and bulimia are very deadly and serious disorders.. they give your brain toxic thoughts and it's sometimes very hard recovering from it.
@Klaranella6 жыл бұрын
But... if you already have a toxic mind. from being called fat and being bullied for that. So you already hate yourself. I can understand how she meant it. when I was younger I desperately wished to be anorexic because I thought I would become skinnier and skinnier, until ppl would like me or I would die from starvation. Either way would've made me rlly rlly happy at that time. So I tried eating less. 1 Apple a day, for round about 1 year, in hopes I'd lose eventually my appetite. But it didn't work. (Luckily) And I began to eat again. Probably more than before that year, I don't even know. So yeah. I understand that ppl get offended by her brushing it of like a choice, because as I experienced it myself, it definitely isn't. But it is the first idea of what comes to everybody's mind, if they haven't had a ed themselves. that it's just a decision that was made once and from that point on ppl couldn't stop not eating, whatever. I apologize, if my comment offends you. That was by no means the purpose of this. I just wanted to explain to you how she possibly meant it. (her skinny shaming still isn't cool though)

when she did that interview & was saying she “tried to become anorexic” i lost it. It’s so so so rude and disrespectful to people who actually have an eating disorder. That is the moment i lost all respect for her. I’m so glad you made this video. EDIT: Y’all need to stop trying to defend her. She said she tried to become anorexic and only lasted a few hours. Then asked her mom to make her a sandwich. I have struggled with an eating disorder on and off for a year. I know what it’s actually like. You can’t just flip a switch and say “oh wow i’m gonna be anorexic” you develop an eating disorder. She basically invalidated everyone out this with an eating disorder. Anorexia is not a choice. It’s not just “eating very little” it’s a fucked up thing. Anorexia is wearing baggy clothes just so you don’t have to see your body. It’s starving yourself for days on end, just to feel pretty. It’s losing your period for months, along with your hair. It’s excercising for hours and hours just to burn the calories you haven’t even ingested. It’s not being able to look at your body without crying. It’s weighing yourself multiple times a day. So don’t even fucking tell me that i’m in the wrong or anything if the sort. Re-evaluate yourself before commenting.
@minnie74536 жыл бұрын
Maybe she has emotional issues that would cause her to WISH she had an eating disorder? Isn’t that fucked up in itself that she would be so ashamed of her body she’d think something as devastating as anorexia could be her answer?

Yes I do see the contradiction in her lyrics but when she said "I won't be no stick figure silicone Barbie Doll" to me that meant she isn't going to be like some of these plastic celebrities who have a bunch of plastic surgery and are grossly thin. Even though the girl isn't fat and was never fat she was just saying she's not going to change herself for anyone. And if the lyrics were more consistent with that I'd appreciate it but it's they're not.
@K4tlyons6 жыл бұрын
Trust me, I do not like Megan at all, but I think the part where she sings about being a skinny Barbie doll, is meant to say that she knows it’s unrealistic to think that her body will ever look like that. And she’s saying she accepts that her body will never look like a Barbie doll.

@bisontyson43976 жыл бұрын
Alaina Velasco It’s idolized because it signifies health, the reason fat acceptance is still an issue is because it’s genuinely not healthy. While being too skinny isn’t healthy either, I’d be more willing to say being overweight kills more people than being underweight. It’s easy to pack on weight, it’s hard to lose it. I know people my age(22) who can’t even walk around the mall for more than fifteen minutes without their knees being in pain. I’ve got a broken leg and I’m on crutches, and can still out crutch someone who’s obese and I won’t even break a sweat. Being fat puts a lot on your joints, bones and muscles my dad is fat and he tells me how uncomfortable he is all the time. He’s working to lose it, but he says even tying his shoes makes him huff and puff. I couldn’t imagine.

posiek megh yeah but when you preach about being all about being fat it's does seem really hypocrtical to loose weight I mean if she was really all about that bass youd think she would find comfort in food(though I would never suggest that that just leads to eating disorders although I'm sure Megan is certainly "strong" enough for it) or somsthing
@raym.7786 жыл бұрын
I can't speak on her actual motivations, and I'm probably just mostly echoing what the person above me said, but I've got to imagine that touring has something to do with it. Performing has to burn extra calories and I'd assume she had to improve her fitness in order to be able to perform for over an hour. Plus I've got to imagine that eating poorly while on the road doesn't help in terms of energy answer mood. I imagine stress of a tour is either going to drive someone to fall apart or do better so that they can survive it.
@miaferrari9586 жыл бұрын

honestly, i'm so happy that someone finally brought up the fact that just because someone is skinny it doesn't mean they're happy or content with their body. i have a bony structure, i struggle to eat what some would say is a small portion, and atm i'm trying to get healthier and 'fix' my mindset. everyday people compliment and insult my body, and ironically people who compliment me end up pointing out my flaws, compliments scare me nonetheless because they give a positive view on my body while i resent it so much. i'm sorry for whining but again, thank you for bringing the new point of view, it's a relief.

People started throwing food at me, one person would make throw up noises when I would walk by (referencing bulimia). I was just a skinny petite girl, and I was being harassed because for a little while there it was 100% acceptable to bully and harass skinny girls. We were told to deal with it. We were told we had nothing to complain about. It was a very depressing time for me, and Meghan Trainor made it so much worse.

Suri Cheon She didn’t lose enough, she’s still a fat cow. If she’s gonna bag on people like me for being skinny, due to medical reasons then I’m gonna shame her for her thunder thighs and quadruple chins that she can’t excuse because she simply liked food and was lazy. She said she tried to have anorexia, like that’s not how eating disorders work. You don’t just wake up and decide to be anorexic, it’s an actual mental disorder that kills people.

Jess_ Midget123 you also know you sometimes cant help being heavy set its just what is in your gene makeup that deside your weight and where its store have you thought of that. i am a track runner and i do volley ball i am naturaly heavy set but i dont carry it in my stomach so maybe she was athletic im just saying. most times can help being skinny it just runs in the family well, MOST times being heavy set runs in the family go back to six grade people your weight comes from your GENETIC MAKEUP im not hating on people who dont look like me i love the variation of people and all the wonderful people i meet but there are just some jerks out there and calling them fat cows isnt gonna help no one what if you said that to a random person on street who looked like her how would people react then they would hate you. THINK BEFORE WHO CALL THEM A NAME, would you say it to a normal person in your everyday life.

I'm male and I like that song. It's called "tongue-in-cheek" try not to take it so seriously
@twinkletoes62906 жыл бұрын
lucas5665 ahhhhh, but would everyone take it so lightly and it be considered tongue in cheek if a guy wrote and sang a song like that about a woman/future wife and said some of the things that were said in that song??????? NOPE! If we truly want equality, we need equality then. We can't keep excusing one type of behavior and not the other and confirming that person just because it was a girl saying or doing such things, or vice versa. We need to have respect and treat each other correctly coming from both sides if we truly want equality and acting a certain way that would be inappropriate or wrong for one sex shouldn't be excused away just because it's coming from the other sex. This is not what true equality is and not what we should be striving for. This is why so many ppl have an issue with the majority of "feminists" today because they're not actually feminists and they don't actually want equality and are very hypocritical for the things they say about men or things they do/way they treat men. They're embarrassing to the legions of true feminists that came long before them, that fought the hard fight to get us women so many rights that we have now and progress further.

Ok, i have one more point on why shes so unlikable, if u listen to her song "women up" she sings about female empowerment by saying stuff like "dont forget mascara, gotta keep your head up" (idk if thats even it but thats all i remember) but shes saying girls need to put on a full face of makeup to feel beautiful and it really bothered me even as an 11 year old when i first heard it.
@eddapernice3416 жыл бұрын

It’s funny how people troll others opinions ;) How is she hypocritical? You can’t be for women/feminist, or think she empowers people and be against certain groups within them. For example: skinny girls, or people who have eating disorders, or even being a man. She says she wants to empower but does nothing but belittle in her songs! How is that not hypocritical or very condescending? If you don’t see this as what I state as being hypocritical, then you can stay out of my conversation or opinions. You should look up the definition and tell me what you would categorize as hypocritical... just saying. Have a good day :)

@@Iamawho .. Not exactly. "Go ahead and tell them skinny b*tches that No, I'm just playing I know y'all think you're fat" Immediately implies that all skinny people think they're fat. Sure, a lot of skinny people aren't confident about their bodies, but that doesn't mean all of them think they're fat. Many people are insecure about the fact they're skinny. Her "I'm just playing" doesn't hold much value when she continues on to say stuff like that, y'know.
