If you would is it the flakey stuff that catches on fire, or the black shinny that looks like high gloss spray paint or maybe both. Would appreciate your thoughts thanks for the video.

Your major concern is the cap, take it off in the winter while you are burning wood. Birds will only be a problem in the summer.

Take a chicken and tie it's legs together and lower it upside down down the chimney. It flaps all around and cleans the chimney. Advice from my 88 year old grandfather.

I'm sure that is a joke. What person in their right mind would do THAT!!??

#1 you don't have to remove the chimney cap just remove the four screws off the hat it's a lot easier # 2 watch a video to properly clean your chimney because you obviously do not do it correctly.

A double burn or rocket style stove will leave You little to none (rocket only) creosote.. also better heat/burn from wood & most have a cooking surface (for cooking during power outages) or put a kettle on for moisture...

You could put in a top plate in Your existing stove ( from back of firebox 3/4 forward with brick to burn/reburn gasses.. You'll get more heat & less creosote... (We had a folded weighted brush, just drop it down. One shake, it opened, pull it up & repeat till satisfied)... Hope this was helpful Stay Safe and God Bless

Dude that is bad. You need to do a hot burn once a week. Do that and it wont need cleaning.

hmmm? I'm thinking...tie another rope to the opposite end of the brush and have a 2nd person pull it back up, then you down, then person up...get her clean. :)

I have seen people start a chimney fire on purpose. This guy had a limestone chimney on a old farm house. He just laughed when I told him he had a chimney fire. Like you I would not recommend

I use a 15 ft dog chain with a leash snap on the end of it i hook the leash snap into the metal loop of the brush all you have to do is drop it down the chimney the weight of the chain will let it drop straight thru.then have someone pull it down thru or climb down and pull it thru, works great
