I've been using the poly chimney sweep brush, that connects to a drill, for five years, and it does great. It uses buttons to keep the poles together, easier to me than threads. Just make sure that the chimney is not hot, when using it. I like the plastic pieces of string, because it does not scratch the metal flue. I also have used a shop vac, using a hepa filter, and I tape a couple of painters rags to the end that blows the air out of the shop vac, it helps to further filter what it blows out.

Haha, I bought the Amazon style. Actually waiting for it to come in for me to pick up in the city. OOPS! I didn’t even know there was a difference. Now I know! Thanks for the video. I’ll at least give the ones I bought a shot, and I imagine I’ll end up upgrading.

Is that just a regular shop vac or is it an ash vacuum

Ash Vacuum is the proper tool. I Used a regular shop vac with a heppa filter. This should never be attempted as if there is an ember inside the flue, this will cause the vacuum to catch on fire. I did this cleaning 6 months after the last fire.

If you use a regular shop vac, use the hela filter, and wrap a towel or two around the part that blows the air out, to help filter and catch the soor particles.
