This is a rare interview, very well done. Kaushiki Chakraborty is the reason I listen to Indian classical music these days. She is Devi Saraswati, the goddess of Indian music. Great job 👌🏻

I can't put my feelings into words... it felt like atma and Maa Saraswati were imparting wisdom about musical art, the sadhana needed to excel in a chosen field, and how this practice is essentially an inward journey of self-discovery and this journey not only enriches oneself but also aids others in their life journeys. Thank you is a too small word Maa Saraswati..

This interview is such an asset. The more I listen to her speak out her thoughts , her philosophies the more I understand by her musical expression. Her inner beauty and unique persona reflects in her music and why it is so different from everyone including her own legendary father and the more I fall in love with it. It's not easy to daughter of an enigma like panditji and curve your own path musically and otherwise and create your identity in one's youth itself , but she has done it and so beautiful. As a bengali and a student of music , I feel so proud that pt Ajoy Chakrabarty , vidushi kaushiki Chakraborty exists and they are representing bangalees in this field worldwide.. .Thankyou karan for this interview..

I saw Kaushiki ji recently in Austin. Wow, besides the fact, she is ' Maa Saraswathi', she is so humble. What struck me the most, is the way she recognized all the musicians who supported her on the stage. Perhaps, all the old clowns ( sorry that's what I think of them) who claim to be masters... learn from her! Way to go Kaushiki and the next time you are in Austin, please come home

Very articulated, introspected and thought-provoking answers she delivered which are to be listened to in solitude to purify ourselves and to delve into our real selves. What an authentic discussion! Kudos to Karan for creating that space 🎉. ( This podcast) In reverence to Kaushiki Ji’s humanity, dedication towards her craft, her meeting the crafts-woman who are not spoken about , and not sounding too much like a feminist but a humanist…the words used to articulate in the language also need to change…. Perhaps usage of mankind needs to reduce and humankind needs to increase? Kaushiki ji’s thought process and articulation is as important as presentation of her craft for future generations to introspect and bring up their better selves to forth. ❤

Very rarely does one come across an artiste who can articulate her thought processes and the underlying processes that make an artiste evolve and become what she is - this is a master class about life itself and one gets mesmerized , drawn into the conversation and can relate to the introspection. Brilliantly conducted and answered interview. It is so organic and free flowing - the listener gets swept along and becomes part of the podcast.

What a wonderful expression at a human level by someone many consider to be the goddess of classical music. There are so many wonderful nuggets here. Examples: Why-What-How (the pivotal role of why). "I don't have ownership.""Is singing for Bollywood a progress for a singer? That is something wher ei find my expression. My music is my centerstage. I don't see my music as a supporting element that will be defined by another narrative. Why do I need to put my music back stage." "Creativity is never to be prescribed." @Karan - you did a wonderful job by giving Kaushikiji the space to express what she wanted to without a filter- keep it up.

Simplicity, humility, grace, elegance, yet a magnificence that ascends to Himalayan heights is unique, and this is what separates Kaushiki Chakraborty from the rest of Indian artistes, many of whom feel that they have reached the pinnacle of accomplishments, and not "a work in progress" as she describes herself, ready to explore the infinite potentiality of music and humanity. Her classical skills, blossoming into mesmerizing art has been achieved through discipline, perseverance, and complete submission to the feet of a master, who was no other than her revered father Ajay Chakraborty, a gift she has not taken lightly. The world of music, and the world of Indian classical music is fortunate to have such an amazing talent and commitment to preserve and expand the pristine values of our ancient culture. May that Divinity that drives her work continues to fuel the blazing light of brilliance that epitomizes her personality.
