Hello, in this episode i spray undercoat on the side panel and the front mud guard. I also continue with the gas tank begin with filling the dents with body filler. and one coat of primer and then sand with 400 grit wet and dry, paint again with primer and sand again, then once most of the dents are filled i go over the tank and apply this thick liquid putty paste to fill in any scratches let that dry and wet dry sand wit 400 grit sand paper. then a coat of spray putty sand that with 400 grit and then final coat of primer. Once dried I sand that again very lightly with 800 grit wet and dry and then that's ready for top coat. Make sure there is no exposed bare metal before applying top coat the primer must cover all bare metal. One mistake i made by wiping methylated spirits before I apply paint don't do this please it make the primer sticky. best to go over with a damp cloth just use water or go over with prep sol. I love painting this is probably my most favorite part in a restoration project especially when the color is applied. I may not put as much effort sometimes for example the gas tank was in fair condition so I didn't go through it 100% and remove every bit of rust just a quick tidy up as later on I will source a tank that is in better condition same goes for the side cover. I am self-taught, always learning and do make mistakes quite often or even may miss a step / method in the process. By all means this is not a professional restoration business or how to video it's just a hobby I enjoy and making do with what I have. I don't edit anything out of my videos as I like to share my projects on KZbin so when you see my mistakes, please don't do or follow what I did, and I hope you can learn from it too. There's always room for improvement, I am not perfect and at the end of the day we are all here to learn from each other! Enjoy the video.
