No problem man! Unfortunately, I will not be finishing this series. But I will be doing other builds soon. I am only waiting on parts and tools to come in. I will be doing a cafe racer, slimmed down performance based vulcan 1500, my road glide, a honda rebel 250 as a bulletproof offroad bike, and a few others. Keep watching!

If you have any questions feel free to shoot me a dm on the Facebook page. This project has been paused for the moment because I'm working on moving into a new house. But once that's settled I will be picking up where I left off. Thanks for watching!

Couldn’t read the bottle but I see that was Permatex Ultra Slick Engine Assembly Lube around 4:16.

Yes it was. I always use a heavy assembly lube when I rebuild an engine.

Where did you buy your parts from, did it come as a kit or did you buy everything separately

great video, many thanks. Did you measure the valve seat pattern or just do a basic lap and call it a day?
@ThrashTestDummies
@ThrashTestDummies 2 жыл бұрын
Nah I just lapped it. There wasn't really a call for doing anything else.

@Thrash Test Dummies yeah makes sense. I'm doing a top end on same engine and have noticeable valve leak on one intake valve. Gonna do a lap and hope for the best 👌

Anyway where did you get that ducktail back fender is it one from one of the 800s or is the Harley fender
@ThrashTestDummies
@ThrashTestDummies Жыл бұрын
It's one from an 800. But I am going to most likely make a carbon fiber rear fender for it.

Hi, may I know what is the red liquid that you put? Is it grease or engine oil? And currently Im disassembling my engine for the first time and getting hard time how to take off the gear on the center engine, that gear is the one when you open the crank case on the left side

@ThrashTestDummies

That is break in oil. It prevents wear during the first startup of the bike until the oil system has had time to disperse oil through the motor.

Mate,i've got a few questions because i am preparing to restore an 1994 Eliminator EL250B ,same engine as this one (EX250) and i am wondering if you would be nice enaugh to enlight me please and answer to my questions. 1)You torqued the screws in spec ? (if yes where you find them,the specs) 2)How the rocker arms are staying in place,they are hold by the camshafts ? 3)You kept the rocker arms,valves and their springs on their og pistons,or it doesen't matter where it goes ? (usually people says to keep them as you found them) 4)If you are honing the cilinder walls you need to order bigger segments as you have to do with the rod bearings if they wear and eat into the shaft ? 5)Didn't you changed the rod bearings too ? I am doing this to my engine because used to eat a lot of oil,and in a week started to do a louder and louder noise everyday then i stoped using the bike to prevent further damage until i'll figure the problem.The internet and the intensity of the noise bring me into thinking those are the rod bearings.It sounds exactlly like hitting 2 metal parts toghether.Here comes the last: What do you think it is,and if you think i am right,could be something more than this,or it could have been just eating the oil to the point where it got no more to lubricate the parts? It happend during a week progressively and i noticed,i think to late...

I'm doing top end on exactly same bike, 94 eliminator 250. Torque specs are in the service manual, I found a ninja 250r pdf on google which is the same. Rocker arms are held in by the cam shafts and just come out when you remove the shafts. Rocker arms and springs don't matter which valve, ideally valve should be kept to the same if possible but if your lapping doesn't matter
@JacobVaughan
@JacobVaughan 2 жыл бұрын
Doing a basic hone as well, just using same pistons with new rings. Ideally should use a dial bore guage to check the bore run out but I think I'll just risk that.

Over the years from people a lot older and more experienced than myself. Then eventually did it enough times to be able to rebuild any engine with my eyes closed. Lol
