In my mind I kept thinking this is the 2ND valve clearance I'm doing with The Cleaner, when in fact, it's actually the 3RD! First VC - 2016 Second VC - 2019 Third VC - 2024 This is why I like to post videos of work being done to The Turtle, keeps a nice record that old forgetful owner cannot remember correctly!

@@ahmadasyraf5587 Low mileage does not always mean good, and it also does not always mean bad. For getting any used vehicle, it's always a gamble. That's why I always believe that you should set aside an amount for unexpected repair/maintenance when buying a used bike. If in doubt, just send it immediately for a top overhaul after purchase. Yes the cost is not cheap but compared to the risk of larger damage and costs.. At least that is my opinion.

My D&A filter actually destroyed itself just like yours and have a large piece stucked on my throttle body, causing stucked throttle, super scary experience, the bike was going to kill me with unstoppable acceleration, had to clutch in kill switch it.

Prolly around 2yrs+, some bits got into the combustion chamber, melted some on the intake and exhaust valve and piston of 1 cylinder, but the bike still runs fine. I agree using these aftermarket filters require frequent checkups but removing the fuel tank is a hassle man.

For the filter, last month I went to Speed X-Treme, Nilai, they got K&N and Simota (filter material is blue color).. was asking for 2016 zx6r filter, but seems like the shape is similar with 2012's.. Price is reasonable as well.. After spent few days researching and reading, end up bought an OEM filter also..😅

Nice.. Yeah better to be safe buy the correct model even though it may look the same.. I did that for the ZX-25R tail light looks the same but a minor difference so didn't fit quite right. Will run with the OEM one for now too, while search for the K&N for the future

Mind to share your experience with us zixxers, what are the precautions that we need to know? Like EO grade that we need to stay away ke, preferred tire pressure ke, etc.. for sure u learn something for the last decade of owning this supersport right 😅

Actually valves need clearance because metal expands when hot. If the clearance is too tight, the cam lobes expand when hot and the valves cannot close. If too loose, excess wear and tear from the lobes hitting the buckets

Pendapat saya, kalau nak kurang pening, mungkin boleh pakai ZX6R. R6 sekarang harga agak mengarut, motor lama pun nak mintak harga 40k keatas. CBR600RR pula saya kurang pasti, rasanya tak banyak yang pakai. Tapi kalau nak beli used, harga motor 1000cc ada yang dekat dengan harga used 600cc, jadi ramai yang akan pilih untuk angkat 1000cc saja, macam kawan saya yang baru beli 2010 Honda CBR1000RR.

since you don't ride it as far or as hard, better to be on time basis rather than mileage

To make it simple, personally I would get the air filter serviced (for those after market ones that are serviceable) every time I change the EO + OF, which is about every 5k km. OEM filter you cannot "service" it, but you can still use compressed air to lightly dust it out a bit, so probably can still be reused a bit more, so I would say (same as above), clean it during your EO + OF change, but dump it after that, meaning at 10k km of use, get a new one. One thing to take note is also your environment, if you ride in dusty areas a lot, the filter will clog sooner and restrict air flow, giving your engine lower performance. Like The Cleaner said, try to open yourself and check/clean.. It can save you some money and you can make sure your filter is in good shape.

I'm afraid removing the oil tank is too challenging for me, would you have any Kawasaki specialist workshop to recommend, other than the cleaner? Can't bother the busy man with trivial services like checking the air filter haha.

@@Deincrosse Do you want to change the air filter or just clean it? I'm sure they will be able to work on it, just try giving the workshop a call/WhatsApp to ask. Otherwise there are now Kawasaki Service Centers around which you can walk-in.. I'm not sure if they will want to "clean" it since it's not a serviceable part in their books. Also if you do find another workshop to do it, make sure they are not using too high pressure air and nozzle that may damage the filter element making holes in it then defeats the filtering purpose.

Yes it's DNA filter that I use for more than 10 years.. Can see it in all the old videos.. I don't know if it's lifetime warranty but to me 10 years is long enough, technically I should have changed for a new one but we just keep using as long as it's usable.. Until it's not. 😅

I use the DNA filter in the video for over 10 years.. And see this happen, to me I'm OK with it lasting this long just that nobody wants filter bits entering the block area for sure. Lucky to have caught it early.. The other one is that red color one.. I don't know lah the brand.. Heard they very touchy about people showing their product fail wanna lawsuit against them.. So we all amnesia about that brand name..

Yes the BMW is gone but no new ZX-10R, he still has his race bike ZX-10R no need for a brand new one.. However he does have a different street bike now.. Thank you for following the Turtle all these years!
