Hi, super video. One question, I have Z 1000 year 2014 with the ABS system, is the change of brake fluid and bleeding of the brakes the same as in the video? Thanks
@johncadwell994 жыл бұрын
Hi, great video, really helpful. Quick question; if the top of my brake pistons have rust on them what would you advise? Clean, replace? Thanks in advance.
@TheSussexBiker4 жыл бұрын
Hi thanks for watching, I'm guessing by the 'top' you mean the area thats closest to the brake pad? Is it heavily corroded or just some light pitting. If at this stage its not running past the seals which I'm guessing it's not then try cleaning. But you may find over a period of time that the whole piston may start corroding.

Went ahead and changed the brake pads great video cheers for putting up Though one question can you bleed the brakes like that on ABS models ?
@TheSussexBiker5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and glad it helped. Looking at the workshop manual it does look like you can bleed the system the same way unless I'm missing something?

Is this the same process on 2019 ABS model for the front brake start m/cylinder then right then left callipers . Nothing extra re the abs to do ?
@TheSussexBiker2 жыл бұрын
Hi sorry not 100% sure without seeing the manual but would guess it might be although there might be special procedures for bleeding the abs modulator-best to get hold of workshop manual to check the procedure.

No copper grease to the back of the pad ?
@TheSussexBiker5 жыл бұрын
No, it's not recommended these days thats not to say that you shouldn't. What you should use is a dedicated brake pad grease/paste. In my case as I generally remove the pads/caliper's regularly to clean I find I don't need to also when riding through the winter I find grit etc sticks to everything but thats my personal preference although on cars I use brake pad grease/paste. Google it you will find brake manufacturers advise against using copperslip alghough that's what I was taught many years ago as an apprentice.

What are you using to clean the rotors?
@TheSussexBiker3 жыл бұрын
I normally use brake cleaner and a cloth, i.e spray the brake cleaner onto a cloth and then clean rather than risk brake cleaner spraying about and damaging any plastic items.
