Had a Honda 750/4 F2 in 1980. I fitted a Yoshimura pipe on that. It was carb so with some advice set up the carbs and jets myself plus a few other things. Didn't dyno it but from the feel of the bike the bhp and torque curves look similar to your plots. Lifted everything through the rev range, with no flat spots or dips which some other pipes could cause, but also gave a nice fat lift in the mid range torque over and above the general lift. Great to see a Yoshi delivering the goods 40 years on.

Modern bikes run lean and hot to comply with emissions standard's. Nothing else. Free flow filter and exhaust, and then a proper Dyno tune is the best thing you can do for this bike.

When I was a boy, a long time ago, I had a 1977 Z1000 with a lovely aftermarket 4 into one (vance & haynes) with a large baffle. Late one evening, I was making my way home on a country highway when the last bolt holding the baffle in place must have sheared through and fallen out, followed shortly thereafter by the baffle. It was like an instant switch in sound from healthy litre bike at 6,000 rpm to steroid abusing semi truck at 120 decibels or better. I did find the bafffle and discovered another benefit of using loctite when doing the repair.

when you downshift do you rev and clutch and downshit at the exact same time when downshifting?
@crispysmotorcycles Жыл бұрын
Hi, yes pretty much. I also find it helps if you are smooth with the clutch 👍🏻
@TopshelfJunior3 ай бұрын
You don't HAVE to do it the way he was in the video, although the way he was doing it was spot on and SWEET ! But on the Z900 especially, you can pull the clutch in, kick it DOWN a gear, and slowly let out the clutch...and the bike will still be smooth as butter. I don't know what it is on the bike but, moving between gears on it is a breeze, up and down, always smooth.
@colinoz3 ай бұрын
Does it have a quickshifter for upshifts? Or you're just going clutchless?

With a good remap/flash, that yoshimura exhaust should push 135hp to 12krpm from or 100hp 10krpm. Me, no baffle😅😅😅😅
@crispysmotorcycles8 ай бұрын
135 bhp from a remap? That would be impressive…. The RS is a different beast to the Z 900 but with different cams and a remap you’d be closer. Check out - kzbin.info/www/bejne/hl7HlpaDodOhnK8si=W20PIXmf1qxWsZh5
@switchblade762x518 ай бұрын
@crispysmotorcycles yoshimura cams, are different. With them, the yoshimura hand bent superbike pipe, Archi and a few other jdm companies are pushing between 130 and 135. If you add in the high compression pistons heads etc($3k) you get closer to 150hp. JDM just does it better
@crispysmotorcycles8 ай бұрын
Yes you would definitely need to do engine mods to get those kind of numbers, not just a flash and exhaust. Baffle out was 😳😳😂 Thanks for commenting 👍🏻
@malexder00822 жыл бұрын
Now that you have the map, the next flash costs you basically nothing, right? You don't mention anything about the O2 sensor. Did you disable that and advise the customer to unplug it? You should also plug the hole left behind in the air box after removing and plugging the hose. Cutting out the divider inside the airbox is also another mod people do at the same time. Changing the air filter practically makes on difference (+1 hp maybe?). New exhaust, filter, airbox mod and tune should get 20hp more.
@crispysmotorcycles2 жыл бұрын
Hi Malexder! The flash costs as long as it takes me to do it. If it’s the same bike with the same mods I can apply the same map but personally I’d like to run it on the Dyno and check everything. Yep, I disabled the 02 sensor and unplugged it. 👍🏻 No need to plug the air box hole as I’ve tuned the bike to run without it. Pair valve is now blocked off. Yes performance air filter makes small gains but some people prefer a lifetime filter that can be maintained. This one made an extra 12 bhp peak over stock but the Euro models tend to be less restricted. It’s not just about peak power figures tho 😉

Is this exhaust street legal for european countries? cann it be homologated for lets say germany?
@crispysmotorcycles2 жыл бұрын
Hi, the exhaust isn’t marked “not for road use” and with the baffle isn’t crazy loud so I can’t see a reason the Police would be interested and it’s quiet enough to pass an MOT. Here in the UK 🇬🇧 anyway 😎👍🏻

@@crispysmotorcycles must be homologated. The police will not mesure, but will ask for homologation papers. So I think this pipe is not legal in EU. In Slovenija not.
