The last of the real Kawasaki muscle bikes with out all the modern gizmo's. A Riders bike.

I own a 2005 Kawasaki ZRX 1200R that I bought new in 2005. I put an Akrapovic Titanium full exhaust, K&N filter, custom jet kit, Borg & Warner race clutch, 4 degree ignition advancer, and 3 teeth up in the rear sprocket. It did 10.38 seconds in the 1/4 mile with no wheelie bar and it doesn't have a stretched swing arm. I don't race it, the 1/4 mile run was done after all upgrades were done, dyno'd, and just wanted to see what it could do. It has a full House of Kolors Golden Candy Apple custom paint job (paint changes color to from candy apple green to golden highlights in the sun) with ghosted 3d black flames( you can see through them) and gold metal flake through the paint. Everytime I take it out for a ride or go to a bike rally its grabs peoples attention immediately. These bikes have bullet proof motors and I've never had any problems with it. It's got 23,000 original miles on it ( All my own miles from new ) and it still runs like a BEAST!!! I've had several offers from people who want to buy it but I'm like," Hell No!" They stopped importing this model at the end of 2005 so you can't buy any new ones in the U.S. I also owned the original Eddie Lawson 1970 KZ1000A but I sold it years ago like a FOOL! Great Video...

What surprised me about the ZRX1200 was how smooth and agreeable it is for commuting and easy cruising. It is as smooth as silk at 2500 rpm and has lots of torque at that low RPM as well. But then again all you have to do is roll on the throttle and the smooth commuter becomes a beast. With suspension modification and a fork brace they are really competent in the twisty stuff too.

I own an 05 model and have had it since new. It remains completely stock and looks like it just came out of the crate. I don't ride it that often as it only has just shy of 24,000 miles on the odometer. I did take it out yesterday and it performed flawlessly as it always has. The carburetors fueled perfectly and I usually get about 50-51 mpg on my leisurely back road rides. I've held on to it specifically because it was a father's day gift from the wife and that it represents the last of an era in great UJM sport motorcycles.

Bought myself a ZRX 1100 as a beginner bike last year. You are absolutely right in one point: The more you learn about it, the more you want one 😄Was initially looking for a nice Zephyr 750 but couldn't find one. So I gave up on the Zephyr and was looking for alternatives, what made me stumble over my ZRX 1100, just a shy 14 miles away from my place. Didn't regret it, even though it needed a bit of TLC 😉 Funny though I had the opportunity to ride the Zephyr just a few months later. After the ride I was so glad I bought the ZRX instead. Better handling, better brakes, far more grunt equals far more fun. The Zephyr is more the laid-back type in comparison. If you are looking for a retro big bike with a nice seating position, sporty handling and decent power, look no further! It has a reason the R-models rise it's value. As you said, they don't make them like that anymore 🥲

My 2003 Kawasaki ZRX1200R has 55,000 miles and still rocks. My dream is if they would make a ZRX1400R with the ZX14 Ninja engine and don’t de tune the engine so we don’t have to spend thousands of dollars to tune it back up. The ZRX1100R has been in the USA in 1999 but ZRX1200R was released in the USA in 2001 . I’m in the USA and I bought my 2003 ZRX1200R here in the USA"

buy a ZRX for 5K, and then dump another 20K into it. You won't be disappointed with proper suspension, brakes, and a Compton Customs 1224 kit making 170hp and 100lb. ft, of torque. You won't get most harleys off the showroom floor for 25K.
@michaelmugele33086 ай бұрын
Total Bullshit $20K? Are you high? And I'm not worried about smokien a Harley with my ZRX1200R in the quarter mile.... not at all. I'm not worried about a stock Harley what so ever. Adding extra HP is always nice, but not needed to put a Harley on the trailer.
@brookcampbell29406 ай бұрын
I was making a reference to the cost of motorcycles these days. The ZRX is a beast and can compete with some modern bikes with a little love. Maybe you don’t have $20K because you live in mom’s basement. You should check out the ZRX builds in Japan and Compton Customs. $20K was on the light side bra. Also, I own 2 H-D’s.
@michaelmugele33086 ай бұрын
@@brookcampbell2940 hahaha, nice. I live in Florida and we don't have basements. I really love the Harleys as well. Road with a friend that had one of the nicest IMHO that I've ever seen and it sounded great and was fast aa shit too. He had a lot of work to it. One nice bike. btw, most likely I'm your dads age. A little old for basement dwelling. :)
