I'm willing to bet that you can't do a better job than professional scouts. It's easy to say that kind of statement when it's all said and done and when you've already seen how the player developed.

@@RayleighSilvers He wasn’t the only one overlooked in 2011 draft either, which was a helluva draft btw. Kawhi was the 15th pick in that draft. But Jimmy Butler was taken as the 30th pick. Very interesting to see these decisions with what we now know but looking at these highlights and how far he took SDSU, not to mention how the commentators were raving about him, it’s amazing he wasn’t taken higher.

@Hugh Mungus When you watch this video on Kawhi and when you realize how far he took SDSU in that tournament, I feel like his NBA talent was obviously better than being selected at 15. Fredette was good but I’m talking about NBA scouts who are suppose to know what it takes to play in the NBA. These highlights of Kawhi shows a two way player with supreme talent as evident by the commentators like Reggie Miller raving about him.

@Hugh Mungus well that’s you’re viewpoint. He was the 2nd SF taken that year and I would respect what you say more if you said, teams picking ahead of 15 just were not looking for SFs for whatever reasons. And that happens. Look at where Kobe was taken in the draft! But his talent is unmistakable looking at these highlights and definitely worthy of lottery selection. He was the team leader, very skilled, strong and athletic. It’s all there. The commentators saw it, I don’t know why scouts didn’t quite see it.

The facilities manager for the Spurs gave him his own keys to the training facility when he got tired of getting there early to open up the doors for Kawai. He still has his own keys to the SDSU facilities as well. He doesn't help on the recruiting trail for SDSU, but everyone knows that you will find him on campus training. That workmanship mentality has carried forward. It's now known that in order to play for SDSU, you have to do the work. He's a man of few words, but makes up for it in effort.

I'm trying to figure out who was kawhi Leonard before he was kawhi Leonard. He was better than I thought in college and he had size and handle. It has to be because he played for San Diego State the reason he got picked 15. I still did not see an NBA superstar, but I saw them draft worse in the lottery much higher. He had an NBA build and he had handles.
