Radio recordings on tape which I would stay up late digging and recording sounds from radio stations from Los Angeles(Hollywood) San Diego, to gigs from far away Oklahoma..Ah those were the days..with me they never end..Been digging music since the late 30's...living near Hollywood's night clubs and juke joints I dig the tunes of them thar days...and a few new of now days...depending on the artists of fine music..

When Kay introduced "great big five-string banjo player" Roger Sprung, I thought she was talking about the "great big" sound of his banjo.. until I saw him standing next to her!. Best wishes to Roger, a regular at events from the Washington Square jams of the 1950s to the Hartford fiddle contests where I first saw him in the '70s and maybe a half century of Galax Va. I love her so much!! So talented and stunning. But I do want to know how she did her hair!
@starrfan15 жыл бұрын
Concerning Katie's hair she was quite talented at doing some things to her hair. Her Mom was a hairdresser and I'm sure helped her growing up. She also used wigs at times and worked into her hairline to look natural. I have cut her hair from time to time being a licensed hairstylist. She had Jose Eber cut it and before that a stylist whom I have forgotten her name.

Even when she's speaking she can't help swinging. And when she sang, there was no style she wasn't completely authentic in. Kay Starr was a force of nature!

It's wonderful to see Kay looking fabulous, as well as to hear that magnificent, stunning voice. A special thrill for me, as I have always wanted to hear how Kay did Hello Dolly. She never disappoints! Thank you so much for sharing. Call me greedy, but has anyone out there got 'If he walked into my life' sung by Kay>
@starrfan16 жыл бұрын
I don't recall ever hearing that title. Thanks for your input.

I have Variety reviews which I think date from 1966 or 67 which mention Kay singing 'If he walked into my life' with great success at Harrah's Reno and the Freemont Las Vegas, but I guess she never did the number on TV. Mustn't complain - you have generously posted so much wonderful material already. I couldn't be more grateful!

Thanks, I feel the same way about her delivery and ability to interpret a song!
