Looked like a really peaceful getaway. Hope the storm stayed away long enough for you to get back. Have a great day and see you on your next adventure.

Very nice. You're right, nice view for a camping spot. Had that canoe for a couple of years. Good canoe. I was just a little too big for it, so I bought another kayak, but I liked the Pelican.

Looked like a great time... I love solo camping. If the accessible by road lakes here did not get so overcrowded I would take up kayaking... 👍👍🌞🔥

It really looked like a relaxing trip and camp. The lakes and mountain lakes here in the summer just get crazy. The only ones not crazy are remote and not accessible by car... maybe a side by side 4 wheeler but cant afford one of those either. Oh well I will just stick to hiking...lol

Nice kayak and campsite. I can’t wait to get my kayak out on an overnight trip this year.

That was one of my main reasons for getting a kayak, just not that many places to do overnighters here in Indiana!

Love it! That's my kind of solo getaway, very nice. Didn't think you'd be kayaking past stop signs though, crazy ;) I think you made the right call, hard to beat your set-up there. Thanks for the getaway!

Funny thing is, almost every time I've been on that lake (typically spring), it's flooded. It turned out to be a great trip, thanks for watching!

Loved the video. Noticed you said you weren't that experienced. Thought I would give you a small tip. You had your paddle upside down. Flip it over and the 4 mile will be a little easier. Thanks for the video

awesome vid. thank you. i’m sorta new to indiana and kayaking but i was scoping the map today and after many trips to chain-o-lakes, which i love, that NE tip of Lake Monroe looked like just about the best kayak getaway in the state for seclusion, waterfowl and grand forested vistas. thank you for all the confirmation here! i may have to pull a three day k-camp in the Deam later this summer.

Saw a boat go by while you were setting up your tent- thought they didn't let those in designated wilderness areas? Looks like a great area to kayak/canoe in. Looking forward to seeing Catfish out kayaking with you. Was that red bird a scarlet tanager? Very pretty whatever it was. Looks like a nice little trip!
@SlonesWildernessExpeditions
@SlonesWildernessExpeditions 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yes that was definitely a scarlet tanager, I don't see those often. The wilderness area is only on the south side of the lake, the reservoir itself is managed by the Indiana DNR, not the National Forest, so boats frequent the lake.

Are there places to rent a canoe for the weekend to go camping? Also, as long as your in the Charles Deam Wilderness area, am I correct in thinking you can camp anywhere away from trails?
@SlonesWildernessExpeditions
@SlonesWildernessExpeditions 5 жыл бұрын
I know of at least one place that you could rent a canoe: lakemonroeboatrental.com/ Probably more than that. As for the Deam Wilderness, you're thinking is correct, just have to stay at least 100' from developed trails & such.
