On my 4 th viewing, it is all so surreal, keep on living the dream Pete. Thanks for the happiness your videos have given me and my paddle buddies, I’ve sent links to them….. we are going to do a few 3-4 day paddles in northern Michigan, I’ll get some good experience and get sorted out before the day I can do this great river, but I will . Man all I can say is thank you!

This is my home river. I live just a few miles from the Head of the James where the Jackson and Cowpasture have a confluence to form the James. I paddle the James mainly at Balcony Falls, a 2+ section with arguably two 3- rapids. There are also some decent rapids in Rainbow Gap on the Jackson a few miles before the confluence. The Maury at Goshen Pass, the Tye, and the Bullpasture are also great whitewater sections that are tributaries to the James. Thanks for sharing Virginia in Appalachia, the James River (America's River: Jamestown, Richmond, and major battles of the Civil War occur all around it. The James is a vital part of America's founding and perseverance.), the Allegheny Range, and the Blue Ridge Range with the world. I still need to try to paddle with you one day Pete. Keep sending it and thanks again for all the things you do for the paddle community.

I'm excited about this one! I've been scoping the James for myself. I'm less than 2 hours from where the head starts. Thanks for giving me a good look at it! Hope you fellas had a blast!

Finally got around to watching this tonight and it didn’t disappoint!! We’ve had the James on our radar for awhile and were looking forward to getting a sense of what to expect….looks like a river right down our alley, and bet it would be even more fun with a bit more water. Looking forward to see how y’all navigate Balcony in those long boats….thats the only stretch that makes me a bit nervous, lol. Good stuff Pete!!

I have kayak that section so many times. Also floated down portions of it in a John boat doing some smallmouth bass fishing. I have Kayak from Glen Wilton - Locher Landing in Glasgow. Never camped it but a section at a time. I live at Smith Mountain Lake so its not that far of a drive to do some Kayaking down the James.

very cool. That is a great resource to have nearby!

😮 Looks like a great trip on a beautiful stretch of river. I haven't looked it up, but is the upper section considered a black water river?
@RiverKingsKayakАй бұрын
Thanks Mark! You know, Im not sure...

@RiverKingsKayak , so far, that section looks right up our alley. Sorry that you weren't feeling well this next day. Blessings to your family!

You ought to average all the scores for the food at Eagle Rock, divide by the number of people giving scores, and make an award plaque or diploma style award showing that the River Kings gave the restaurant a (insert number here) score for them to display for other people making kayak or canoe trips on the river to see. This could be the start of a River Kings tradition.

I LOVE that idea!! Im going to try this!

What drone do you use? Do you launch and land the drone, from the kayak deck? Also a kayaking with a drone video, maybe an off-week video. Thanks. We own a couple small drones, but have not worked up the courage to fly over water yet. Thanks.
@RiverKingsKayakАй бұрын
Alan and Kevin have the DJI mini 4 pros and the Austin has the 3. Yes, they will launch and land over water when necessary, but are much happier launching off land...lol

Would you definitely recommend the dagger Katana for my wife and I for a good cross over kayak.if so could you recommend a good store to order from we live in Kansas and no one around here sells dagger.
@RiverKingsKayakАй бұрын
Yes, the Katana is a fabulous boat and should serve your needs perfectly. As far as ordering, that is a good question. There is likely some shops in the TN area that will carry Dagger.
@dinksawarenessadventure2535Ай бұрын
Awesome thank you so much I will try to look that up in TN I have family that lives in Chattanooga I will see if they know any good outdoor shops great videos keep up the hard work and be safe
