Kayak fishing and crabbing in Brisbane, Queensland

I head out on a day trip for a fish and a crab at a local river in Brisbane. I am still in search of my first mud crab! It was a good day out fishing until I managed to put my pliers through my leg! ouch. Well a day out on the water fishing is better than a day at work.
It was a good reminder of how quickly things can go wrong. I now have a little first aid kit I will have with me in my kayak.
Does anyone have any tips for me to pot my first mud crab?
