The best part of your epic fishing adventures is the positivity and the sheer joy that you have for the sport, the fish and meeting and hanging out with other anglers. So Rad another awesome vid! You Rock Rob!

So true about the other anglers man. That was one of the coolest parts about this trip. I met up with 13 sets of complete strangers except for online, and all of them were just rad people that were SO generous and nice to me. Very blessed to be running into such awesome people. I'm not even that great of an angler, but I've been fortunate enough to fish with some legends. Kevin is THE man out there.

In 1972 when I was in the Navy, we would guard San Clement Island, and catch a ton of Sheepheads, and Catalina Blues, and reef sharks. The abalone drivers would trade us their lobster and abalone, for FRESH WATER and Bologna Sandwiches. Also come on board at night to watch movies. We caught HUGE garbage can(s) full of Sheepheads. Our Filipino cooks would take the extras home, we actually got tired of eating lobster and abalone. Who would'a thunk it.... LOL.

Dude that was an amazing trip, I live in California also, sheepheads are yummy. Happy fishing our pacific Coast. We do have a great fishery here and it's all up and down our coast from San Diego to to San Francisco Bay and more. Right now our yellow tail tuna are going off, but I know you are well aware of that, seeing your video of the day before. I've been following your channel for some time now. You are a true sportsman and I enjoy watching you fish, wherever you are. Enjoy California, we are the greatest state in the world.

+Curtis Burgett yeah dude, this coast is SO wildly different than the gulf or east coasts (makes sense, different ocean) so it's been a blast exploring it because it's all totally new to me. I'll be heading all the way to Seattle during the season, so there will be a little bit of everything. My mom lives in Irvine, CA and she co-stars on tomorrow's VLOG as I cook this sheephead up

Side note, Hogfish are also the same way with the females and males. You can find them all over the east coast, Gulf of Mexico, and Bahamas. They are a member of the Wrasse family and a stunning fish. They are very hard to target with Rod/reel tackle, the best method is to target with a Speargun. But the females are also solid red, but when they transition to males, they get a deep dark purple head. Very awesome fish, they can open their mouths an entire 180 degrees.
@YakFishField7 жыл бұрын
Nice dude! I am familiar with hogfish, I live in Florida, but didn't know they did the same sex change. That was the first fish I thought of when I saw the female sheephead. But the males look more like a tautog further north up the east coast. The females have that same hinged jaw look like the hogfish, and Kevin said they're related.
