Hang on...why didn't you take the hook out? You had time on your side it seems so why choose to maim it in this way?

At 19.48 before you slip him back, the hook is clearly still in the topes mouth, but you put him back anyway. Was this a mistake or could you not get it out? Use baroness and get them unhooked ASAP or even better u hook at the side of the yak, easy if barbless. Also if they are on board and they spin and the hook goes on to your knee or hand your gonna have a very bad time especially if it's barbed.

Use a long nose pliers, it will make unhooking safer, works for me in the Canaries with 55kg plus stingray off the rocks at night. Great video.....🐟🇫🇷🐟

I used to leash everything but like you said it just gets in the way. I haven’t lost any yet but I don’t buy expensive gear for that exact reason.
