Kayak Fishing - INCREDIBLE DAY! - 3 Big Pike + 1 Bass - July 4th Weekend 2023

Best day kayak fishing for me so far this year. It quickly turned into Big Pike Day. I caught 3 Northern Pike over 30 inches: a 31 inch, a 32 inch, and a 34 inch. I also caught a 27 inch Northern Pike and a 1.85 lbs Largemouth Bass. All the Pike were caught using a Keitech swimbait. The Largemouth Bass was caught with a Gary Yamamoto plastic worm.

Haha. 🙂 Maybe I should get that phrase tattooed on my forehead? Or have t-shirts made and sell them? 🤣 It definitely wasn't a typical fishing day for me...and good thing too. I think fishing would get boring for me if every outing was like that one. Yeah....that was quite a morning with some nice fish. I was just telling someone today....if every day was like that day then fishing would become boring. Luckily I don't have that problem...so those really good fishing days stand out and bring a lot of joy 🙂 Thanks for the comment!!!

Hi! I became fond of Ugly Stiks years ago and have stuck with them ever since. They are the 6 ft, 2 piece, medium action GX2. I could probably get you the model number if you're interested. For the reels I have the Shimano Spirex FG4000. Same story....I started using them years ago and have just stuck with them. They have a kind of cool quick-fire trigger. At the end of the retrieve the line always indexes at the top of the reel. There's also a trigger....pull the trigger and the bail opens. I have a love / hate relationship with the reels....haha. The triggers are made of plastic parts and tend to wear quickly. I've found a way to use superglue mixed with baby powder to repair the wear. For the lures.....I use the Keitech 4.8 inch Swing Impact Fat swimbait. I love those things. I usually use Owner 5/0 twistlock hooks. The other lure I've been using a lot lately is a Whopper Plopper size 90 for top water. If the fish are into top water any particular day....those lures work great. Thanks for the comment!!!
