"Sometimes, it's OK just to watch. Nature in action." So true Matt. This is when I remind myself it is called fishing and not catching (also on days when I blank, ha).

I didn't go fishing on the hottest day because I thought that the fishes will be deep down under. However I only fish from the shore. Nice video mate at least you caught something.

Great Videos and tips for beginners. Going to Eastbourne in a few weeks so my Son and I will be giving it a go from the Shore. Watched the Beachy Head video and we are toward that end of the town so can trek to that point. Also watched the vid which looked close to peacehaven so a couple of spots to try. Any tips for newbies which lures are working well at the moment.

Tough at the moment , watch out for those tides and beach head, maybe Holywell a better option early morning/evening. Lures depend on many factors but have always enjoyed a j13 , hard to cast but easy to keep and fish round those big Sussex boulders. Hopefully mackerel look a likes working well in to august but it’s worth changing until you find something working for you

Often thought about getting a kayak....but always worry about being alone out there....whats it like and how do you stay safe....?
@SaltwaterAngler2 жыл бұрын
Usual advice is to go out with someone more experienced first. Lots of groups on facebook for example. The sit on top type boats are very stable and work well as a fishing platform. Avoid cheap short kayaks. like the-ones you see on eBay and amazon. Id prefer a longer second hand boat in good condition(check the hull) Make sure you can get back in if you capsize. I haven't capsized for 10 years and that was in Cornish surf. Safety wise PFD a VHF and ability to read weather and tides , know your physical limitations are more important than say a paddle leash ( i use them when its rougher and for bottom fishing. Dry suits a good addition for all but the hottest summer weather. Maybe try a hire and see how you get on.

@@SaltwaterAngler I'd thought about a Kayak as easier to store than a boat with no driveway here. My upper body strength isn't good so was looking at Pedal Kayaks. Watched a lot of USA videos and liked the Old town & the Pelican kayaks, but when I started looking at prices here in the UK, they are twice as expensive here as the manufacturers prices in the USA. That put me right off.

No kayak trolley down to the beach..? AND, over stones...!?!? 😬🙈
@SaltwaterAngler2 жыл бұрын
We put rubber matting attached through the scupper holes to save the hull- much better than trolleys - will show that in the next kayak video - you only need a small bit and it saves on carting the trolleys around too

Great upload Matt! Now since you uploaded this 28th of July, was it the hottest day ever? Because the last few days here in the South West have been hotter than hell! Good footage of the Bass chasing the whitebait! Now, question. I love my SG seekers & surf seekers, but last time I was out they twisted the line on my reel badly & I ended up with massive tangles. Can you recommend a good lure clip with a swivel, or should I just get some swivels to slip on the Breakaway mini-links? Thanks Matt - stay safe & well, Dave. 🎣🎣👍👍
@SaltwaterAngler2 жыл бұрын
Hi Dave, yes that was the hottest here ! Don’t use swivels the mini lure clips from breakaway- the swivels are not good
@trampster73062 жыл бұрын
@@SaltwaterAngler The reaon I asked, apart from the tangles, was I read on a tackle shop site recently that the Seeker does a 360 deg spin on the drop, so if you work it sink & draw, it is spinning every time you let it drop and putting twists in the line. I might see if I can put a swivel above the mini-link. 👍👍

Great video Matt. Do you find you catch less in hot bright weather. Is there any truth behind hot weather bright weather reduces the oxygen in the water? Which reduces your chance of catching.
@SaltwaterAngler2 жыл бұрын
Good question as always Ian- Now i have a theory that Yes the water (Looks) un oxygenated BUT there will be areas with more oxygen - Rivermouths tidal rips and downtide of structures. Ive actually had some recent good luck by finding Hunting fish like Bass of all sizes in the smaller patches of oxygenated water. Its almost as if it holds them in a smaller area. So yes look for Oxygen rich water. Just aa theory but im getting good results so far

Not in these conditions. Paddle Leashes cause more problems coming back not necessarily safer. I use them in rougher and stronger tidal conditions
