Frigging .... GENIUS ! I couldn't make out where you bought the gutter (?) material... I assume from a supply store like 'home depot's or 'lowes' (not sure if you have those where you are). My question is, if the gutter and hull are able to be Glued with a PVC glue, which if it works would literally weld the two together. Your thoughts? And thanks for this, I would have way more confidence in your method, that the tapes and such you could purchase for a shitton of money. Thanks again. Nick in Redfield Arkansas.

Cheers buddy, I am in uk so we have different shops/ stores to you. But I guess it’s just finding a similar product. I not tried anything too permanent adhesive wise. This is great because it can be redone if needed but also pretty dam hardy. I done a few other yaks and craft since. Including my new frib. One yak I did with a pu sealant called tiger seal. That’s also holding up well. Good luck and let us know how you get on . Thanks

Have been looking at different ways of doing a keel guard. This looks good. Has it stood the test of time, if so how well? Thanks. Really am interested in knowing.
@carperblue3 жыл бұрын
I have been using it for years now, probably every 50 or so trips in sea I have removed and re stuck with fresh tape it took about 15 minutes to remove tape from guttering, it now runs the full length. I have experimented with pvu tiger seal on one section it seems to hold fast but you will never get the stain off if you remove it. The tape has the advantage it is relatively long lasting and easily to reverse or remove with heat. Also warming the yak up as you apply it helps long term adhesion definitely worth a try

mark lafaive all I fish quite often and we have shingle beaches that we launch from. I removed the two old ones prior to the video. They have been on for quite a few trips and about 4 months
@carperblue5 жыл бұрын
I found after 3 months where I dragged it, it was coming loose. I removed it heated up tape and pulled tape off the guttering and reused the gutter with new tape. I had about 20 trips on it, before I restuck it for 2nd time so getting consistent use

@@carperblue Ever thought about gluing it with some heavy-duty adhesive? Looks great
@carperblue4 жыл бұрын
@@gofish2233 I have considered adhesive, however I know that if I want to remove this it can be removed quite easily. It is also surprisingly durable. I have redone it since this video. It now runs the whole length, in three sections. That has been on and is going strong after over 50 sessions in saltwater. Where it is dragged up our steep shingle beaches. It was also very easy to reapply
